Greetings All,
I have gone back and forth as to whether to post this here on the Cantina, beings the majority of members are male. But after thinking about it, I figure most of you sound like mature individuals, and many of you have wives (or/and daughters) who may have, or one day May have to go through what I am going through Sooo...

Ever since I was in High school, there was one major part of my body that gave me nothing but trouble. That was my Chest.... Not only was it a pain to buy clothing, but try to get a guy to look you in the face instead them conversing with your breasts....

When I was a Dental Assistant, I had to apologize every few min. because it is very unprofessional to lean on your patient while doing work. I couldn't help it... my arms are only so long.

When I was younger and going through some "stuff" in my life, I found writing poems helped me to think out things as well as to release any pent up feeling I might have from not talking about them. Ed is a wonderful listener, and like most guys If I am upset about something, he automatically feels like he needs to try and fix things, even though he KNOWS he can't. He knows this is a "guy thing" when what is really needed is just to be heard.

That is where you all come in if you like. I have been keeping a Blog since March 29.2009 about what is going on. Feel free to read and comment. From time to time discussions might be graphic.... and it is possible a few pictures will be posted. I'm not talking about the typical pictures a guy want's to see of a woman's breast, I'm talking surgical pictures.... raw incisions, nasty scars, ect.

A quick briefing as to where I am at and why the request for Positive Energy... For the Details, Read the Blog..
Like I said the whole thing started with a consult appointment for a breast reduction, very straight forward.. I was told since I was young I would need a Mammogram. so that appointment was made.
I had the Mammogram done, and after the radiographs were shown to the Radiologist I was ordered to have an Ultrasound THAT DAY. So they got a tech to do the ultrasound.... I started to get a feeling in the back of my mind that SOMETHING was showing up....She kept going back to one area on the same breast, doing a few shots, Walking out of the room, coming back in doing a few more shots.... this went on a few times... When I asked if they were seeing something, I got the stock answer, "I'm not sure I'm just going by what the Dr. is asking me to do" Jeesh SOME Help! (somehow this post got deleted off my blog)

Anyhow, I went back to see the Plastic surgeon, who politely tells me that we can't go forward with the breast reduction... a mass has been discovered in my right breast an she wants me to see a Surgical Onclolgist STAT!!! (this was not something that a self check or my yearly GYN visit would have found since it is not a "lump" that can be felt.) So we set up an appt for about a week later (the soonest he had).
Which leads us to where We are now (I say We, as Ed is as big a part of this as I am) I saw the Surgical Oncologist on Monday and they have found a 7mm "Mass" in the right breast and they want me to go in for a "Core Needle Biopsy" This will be done on Tuesday May 5th @ 10:30am

If all goes well and it is Benign.... (which I'm sure it will be, I mean The God & Goddess know I have my limits. I already deal with one Chronic and intractable health problem (Pain) on a daily Basis so something like CA would really make me nuts!) I will be able to go back to the plastic Surgeon, and continue with my plans fro the reduction.

So I ask of you no matter what you belief system or faith for some positive energy, and a bit of Healing Thoughts as we go through the next 11 days. I will see the Surgical Oncologist on 5/11 to learn the results.

For those of you that have wives and daughters, girlfriends etc. who may be considering having a reduction done/or had one done.. or has gone through What I am going through, I would LOVE to be able touch base with them.

If any of you are of interest in following the blog or know of someone who would be, drop me a PM here. It is a public site open to anyone (if it helps even one person then it will be worth my one handed typing :).)

I thank you all in advance,
Blessed Be!
Willow

Willow, I will keep you in my prayers. Hope the doctors are able to take care of this quickly with as little pain as possible.

Years ago I went through something simmaller to what you are going through. So I can totally simpathize with you. Good luck. Would you mind emailing me a link to yor blog? Also email me if you want to know more.

Heber

Yeah, here's some prayers your way.
Good thing that they did the scans -- hopefully it's not a problem, but if it is, better to catch now than later.

Oh, BTW, (remember I'm just being a man) as a dental (or any other) patient, I never minded when the females leaned on me -- no matter their breast size. I think women are far more bothered by it than the men they lean on! :D

Good luck and God bless.

BTW pt2: about the time you're getting the biopsy, I'll be getting the injection to paralyse me eye for the surgery next week on the 5th. So if you're feeling bad about getting a sharp stick in the boob, I'm getting the sharp stick in the eye. ;)

BTW pt3: link to the blog?

As someone who has had women in my life who went through both breast reductions (good thing too) and suffered breast cancer, you have smoke and prayers to the Goddess for your health.

Some heavy stuff Miss Willow. I sincerely hope all goes well and am sure it will. So many people go through this kind of thing everyday and turn out fine and well. You are lucky to have plenty support to go around.

On a lighter note:
BTW, you are right in thinking that most of us are mature, but be assured, some of the Bladeforum members are NOT!! Lol I have found this out very recently.

And now for something completely different:
I agree with Cpl. I used to LOVE going to the dentist when I had my braces at 13.
The dental assistant was, well lets just say, well endowed with every 13 yar old boys dream! And like Cpl, I didnt mind one little bit..even though my face would go blood red and the lady would ask if I was ok.
All I could do was grin stupidly!

Willow, I got your email and replied to it. My story isn't much but I hope it helps.

Moving along. Positive energy surrounds and envelopes those who are POSITIVE!!! So really, dont worry.
Those of us who can laugh (loudly!!) at ourselves and not be caught with our pants down in the basement.

I find laughing at everything helps alot. Yes, it is strange but it works really well

You only had to ask, child.:)

How fortunate that this was caught so early. Stay strong and steady, see the treatment through, and I have a feeling you'll come out alright.

Yes, I have a fine wife (30+ years) and three daughters ... as well as a sister the same age as my oldest daughter. My life has been ... well ... blessed with and by women. You're amazing creatures -- so soft and yet so strong.

Smoke and prayers going up from Virginia.:thumbup:

Hiya Willow,

I am glad that the early detection has occurred ... the sooner found, the better.

Positive thoughts for you now and especially on May 5 and May 11 and what no doubt will feel like a very long wait between.

Cpl. Pun:

LOL @ Your post.... the young kids were cute esp. the ones just hitting puberty.

It was the really Old men who would find a way to grab and grope no matter HOW far away I was

Sad thing was I could never get guys to talk to me... They would "talk" to "them" so one summer down @ the Jersey Shore I had a t-shirt made that read "They don't talk back"

Blessed Be!
Willow

Smoke,Prayer and Positive thoughts for benign results,a smooth surgery and peaceful healing.

You got it girl! Good thoughts and prayers going up from Kat and me. :)

"Willow" is a good name... bend with this wind, but be strong.

My wife and I are breast cancer survivors. When life strikes an unfair blow, draw upon every available resource... including us. :)

Mike

You've got it, Willow...with all I've got. You'll get through this, and never be shy about asking for a little support from this bunch. We've got your back:thumbup:
