anybody have any idea of the possibility of possibly a ram with a specialty steel or composite blade something like s30v or zdp or something like that. Im sure the normal ram is good enough, but im kinda developing a preference for the rarer stuff. I want to try one, but I can wait if something out there on the horizon.

I haven't heard of anything in the works, but I concur; the RAM is already a killer knife...with high-performance steel it'd be even 'more better!'

Last I heard before Kershaw split BF was that there will be no special edition of the RAM (or that the odds were extremely low) and the existing super-awesome RAM will be canceled in favor of a cheaper Chinese knockoff of itself. So, given the fact that, as far as we know, the existing RAM will be canceled within a year, that might actually be a pretty rare knife in the long run. According to Thomas, it didn't sell very well at all. Which is stupid. Because it's amazing.

:eek::eek: That is one of the most patently absurd things I have heard! The R.A.M. being dropped in favor of a Chinese version?

Well, I guess that I had better stock up now, because there is a chill wind blowing. :grumpy:

Ill have to get one. I can probably see why it doesnt sell to well, kershaws are known for their assisted openers and im sure these are their bread and butter. before I came here I probably wouldnt have considered a non assisted opening kershaw, I still dont like the fact that some of their knives are made in china, I will not buy them. I will only buy American kershaws. now if they made a ram II that was assisted, whoa

I wasn't too interested in them myself, but after seeing how the lock works, and a few customizations, and knowing the new ones will me made in china, I think I'm going to go a head and get one just because.

I ordered one about 6 weeks ago, so somebody needed 50 bucks or a $50.00 knife worse then I did:grumpy:. I'm lucky that after nearly 30 yrs. of mail ordering motorcycle parts(most of them COD), gun parts and knives this is the first time I didn't recieve my order! Any who when our income tax return comes in I'll either order another one or opt for the Junkyard Dog II or Skyline from someone I've got confidence in! I'm fine with the current steel!

I'm really sorry to hear about your order going bad. I've played with the JYD and Skyline, and liked both a lot, particularly the Skyline DM and JYDII CB. But a truly unique and special knife can be found in the RAM--so I recommend you stick with it.

unwisefool : " Does this mean you are stopping production of the current RAM? I better go get one soon I guess! "

Thomas W : " Absolutely not. We will continue to make this RAM, and it's variations here in the US. "
