Possibility of a removable AO system?

There are a lot of new Kershaw blades that I've had my eye on, but I just don't like the SpeedSafe AO system.

(Yeah, I'm weird... I don't like how it needs a safety in the pocket. I had a Spec Bump and while it was awesome, the safety was just too stiff to keep undoing every time I wanted to open it.)

Is there any possibility that Kershaw might consider drilling the detent ball divot in the blade in the future so the AO spring isn't the only piece providing holding-closed tension?

There are some manufacturers that have removable AO systems, or disengageable ones (perhaps Kershaw? The knife eludes me at this moment -- I think a switch disengages it). It would be wonderful if the basic SpeedSafe could also be downgradable to a manual open.

You should be able to adjust the resistance of the safety using a Torx driver.

Two Kershaw models with the on/off are the Cyclone and Mini-Cyclone.

The Mini Mojito has an innovative safety integrated into the flipper. You don't even have to think about disengaging it. Just use the flipper and it works.

I've always liked that feature. I call it the Glock trigger safety for knives.

Did you ever try carrying the Bump without the safety? I took the safety off my leek the day I got it and I haven't had problems. I tried throwing it on the floor and at walls a couple times and I couldn't get it to open, so I feel pretty safe about it. It'd take a pretty good whack to the flipper to open it, and even then it could be blocked by my leg or pants from opening enough to harm me.

If you want to disable the t-headed sliding safeties, you don't have to remove them. Just tighten them down in the open position.
