Possible Delica/Endura Variant

I love the Delica and consider it ounce for ounce one of the best values out there. I also own both the Sage 1 and 2, and though these are amazing in their own right, I'm always more concerned about dropping or otherwise damaging one far more than I am with the more budget conscious Delica. I loved my circa 2000 version and recently upgraded to two of the modern Delica 4s with colored handles and FFG. The improved grip surface, 4 way pocket clip, and FFG blade make an already stellar product even better. Everyone involved with its design, enginering and sales should feel justly proud, and frankly, I hope you sell a ton of these.

Just wondering if there would be a market for a stonewashed version of the Delica/Endura series. I only ask because with the FRN handles being nigh on indestructible, the only areas that really show wear are the blade itself and the pocket clip. If both these were stonewashed, they would absorb a lot of the daily use wear and tear and thus might maintain that 'factory new' feel just a bit longer.

Just a thought. Please keep up the extraordinary work you're already doing.

i wouldn't mind picking one of those up. i know with those non smooth finishes you sometimes have to worry more about rust than usual, but Spyderco definitely has some very stainless steels available.

I don't think we will see one ever . I think I remember Sal saying something along the lines of a tumbled blade looking unfinished , hence the nice satin blade finish on all uncoated spydies !!! The only stonewashed spydie I ever had was the swick 2 and I thought it looked great btw ;)

I love stonewashed blades, my favorite blade finish. if I already didn't have so many Delica Variants I would get one

Stranger things have happened. Sal's a savvy enough businessman not to let his personal tastes preclude building something that would sell. Also, IIRC, the finish on the 154CM Manix 2 is stonewashed.

I love stonewashed! The increase in corrosion on certain blade finishes occurs when you have an increase in surface area. Sandblasting can as much as double the surface area! Stonewashing leaves the surface smooth, so there should not be any increased risk of corrosion.

As was the S53VN Mule. The Manix2 has a great looking finish.

The Manix 2 is not really a true stonewash. It has much less 'marks' than a true stonewash that you see on a sebenza.
There is no known standard on what consititutes a "true" stonewash as far as I know. It's the process that counts.

Thanks everyone. Not bad, not bad at all. A dozen responses and pretty much all positive.
The next Delica Sprint Run, perhaps?

Only Mr. Glesser knows for sure ;-)

Keep the pocket clip black, more durable finish fine but keep it black. No point in advertizing I am carrying a knife.
