Possible Emerson Purchase

I've drooled over my computer looking at Emerson Knive's website. I think I might have to add one to my meager collection. I currently have a minigrip and Manix. I've narrowed my Emerson Knife desire to one of four models and was wondering what you Emeson experts think: Blackbird A; MAX 1; CQC-10; or, SPECWAR A?

Of the four you listed, I only have the Max 1, and the SpecWar A. Of those 2, I personally like the SpecWar A the best.

CQC-10 looks good to me. Once you get one, you will want another.:D

Happy hunting!

They're all basically the same thing. Just different shapes cut from the same materials. Emersons are all very ergonomic, so if I were you, I'd just pick a blade shape I liked and go for it.

.

of those you listed, I'd go with the CQC-10. Its got a VERY comfortable handle, and the blade is just plain useful for almost anything you'd want to do.

I ain't an expert, but I have owned a few and handled a lot of Emersons, and out of your choices, I would go with the CQC-10 plain edge in a satin finish. Just my opinion.

That reminds me...

I HIGHLY recommend their 'chrome' finish (which may be called satin on some or most models) on Emersons. Their coating is NICE! SUPER tough.

One thing to also keep in mind... the WAVE feature. I have a buddy who had the Specwar, and until he tried my old Commander and my Combat Kerambit, he was extremely happy. He still likes the Specwar, but loves the Wave one handed open much more.

I'd try one with a Wave and see if you like it. If its just a so so option, pick up a Specwar, or maybe the Blackbird. If its a "definite love the wave, need it" type feeling, I'd pick up an Emerson with one. I know that personally, after having a waved Emerson, I can't convince myself to purchase a non-waved Emerson, and god I've wanted to get a Specwar forever.

Good point. Everyone should try the Wave. Not everyone likes the wave, though, because of what it does to your pockets (It frays them) after a short time. I always keep my eyes open for non-waved Emersons. Not long ago, I found a Raven I'm enjoying.

10.
I've got one, and it's great. Freakin' love it. Strong tip (no way I'll break this puppy); versatile, utilitarian blade shape; great handle ergonomics; the Wave; etc., etc., etc....

That's the style now.

the cqc-10 opens with centrifugal force, you don't even have to give the thumbhole a nudge or even snap it that hard...it practically opens itself, with a click that is so satisfying you will be glad you chose it. Also the handle shape maked the knife handle appear to be a lot more beefier IMO.
BUY IT!! I got the satin serrated edge and serial #0016
