It's getting pretty out of control, and the fakes are getting really really good, the logos, boxes, paperwork etc. are all there, they are learning quickly and the quality is approaching even higher end mid-techs from what some reviews would suggest and they are using higher end blade steels now as well. They used to be pretty easy to spot, I've seen various reeve/hinderer/spyderco's that unless you were really an expert in that particular knife and all of it's various subtle changes you'd be hard pressed to spot it.
More and more of them are making it over here, it's pretty easy to find them from US based sellers now. I don't think it takes away much from the real sales of high end knives, someone that pays $100 for a fake hinderer would likely never spend $700 on the real thing anyway. The bigger concern is as good as many of the fakes are now even knife enthusiasts can't easily tell them apart unless you are a total expert in that exact model and it's entire version history, so unless you are buying new from a retail authorized dealer it's hard to know what you are really getting.
