Howdy folks-

I've been thinking about getting a new hawk, especially after the Trail Hawk thread. I've not really narrowed it down much to what I'd like to try out, and was hoping to get your input on quality differences. As is often the case, I'd like to keep the price low (though I'll have to wait till after the new year to pick one up).

I'm trying to compare:
- the CS Trail Hawk
- the Allan Foundry A-23A on Ragnar's site, the 'old reliable'

- the Great River Forge medium hawk

and I think that's about it for right now.

What are your experiences with the brands above? Use as a light chopper/wood worker/general camp tool?

Thanks much for any thoughts-

Can anyone attest to the quality/service of the Great River units?
Some of those look really nice. Id like to pick up a pair to mod.
After I finish these 2 trail hawks, im going to try to keep my $$ with the domestic guys.

He sells in the makers forum. His screen name is grandpaj.

Does a lot of rustic forged knives. From what I've heard they are pretty good. For the price it can't hurt to try one.
