I have a small, but good collection and am in search of a good tanto fixed blade to hopefully never use as a defensive tool. I happened upon Strider and the BT and WB caught my eye. I know nothing about Strider, but they seem great. Any input? And might they be available to buy at the NY Custom Knife Show?

OSO Grande Knife and tool has a bunch of both blades right now. They just bought 16 knives off of Strider yesterday at the Vegas show. They are in the new flat ground style that really is cool. Check them out on the friends and dealers link on www.striderknives.com . I prefer the WB, but the BT is also a great knife. Either way you win with that selection

Hey Ryan,
Have fun at the show? Liked your table, and thanks for the shirt and pizza.

I recomend the BT, saw the new one at the gunshow and agree with Ryan.

my first (and only fixed blade) strider is a BT. I love it. I'm not the worlds biggest tanto fan (I wanted a MT, but this was available), but I don't use my blades for real hard core stuff, so no big deal. oso grande is great to do business with, I got my AR folder from them. I think I read somewhere that the BT was more tool oriented, and the WB was a bit more weapon oriented, but I think either can do either task easily.
best of luck with your choice, and you won't be sorry with either.
cheers,
Derek

Thanks for the input. Looks like the BT rocks. One final question. Does it come in a Satin (or stainless) finish (which I think that I might prefer) or is the bead blast finish possible preferred?

If you get a different finish than what the dealers have, it will be a six month plus wait. The aluminum oxide bead blast is the way to go. The tiger stripes are a cool addition if you are into that.

A few final questions and then, I promise, I'll leave you all alone: I noticed the Triple Aught Design TKa which fits the bill perfectly. Might that one still be available and, if so, would it come at a big premium? And I have an opportunity to pick up a used BT. Are the older models pretty much the same as what comes out of the factory today? OK, I'll stop.

Buy the used one and send it to Strider to be made "new" again. All it costs is shipping. That is probably the quickest and cheapest way to get what you want. All their gear, old or new, is badass!
