Hello,
I am just wondering if anyone out here is possible a doctor or knows anything about the medical field. My question is, very rarely when I cough extremely hard I get a pain near my groin that soon goes away. This maybe happens once every couple of months, and always when I cough extremely hard. I've been to a doctor, they don't think I have a hernia. No signs, no bulges, nothing. From what I've read, I don't think I have any of the signs either. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so is it possible to have pain when coughing very hard but no hernia? I know this is not a good place for medical advice, but your experiences will be appreciated. Thanks!

Once I had a bad cold, and I coughed so hard I must've pulled a muscle connected to my butt, because every single time I coughed for the next few days I had a shooting pain in that area. Sometimes it's just a matter of the muscles being strained from all the extra work they're being tasked with.

Here are a couple of links. I know it isn't always fun going to the doctor, but you really should get this properly diagnosed. It could be a strained muscle, or a previous injury you sustained getting aggravated by the force exerted by your strong cough.

Thanks!

I hope it turns out to be nothing more than a strained muscle. Best of luck for a quick recovery.

A sports hernia is one of the most difficult diagnoses to make, even with a physical exam to rely on. It could certainly be something other than a hernia, bit if you've got any kind of insurance I'd recommend an appointment.
