Possible to polish out scratches on s30 and s90v?

So I have a military s30v and para2 in s90v and both got a little scratched up on the edge pro even though I taped them.

Is there any way to polish out the scratches or am I stuck with them? If there's no way then it's no big deal, but if there is that would be great.

a buffer would be the easiest way but you need to be very careful plus you would have to buy one too. maybe try some real high grit sandpaper and then some metal polish would probably be the way to go if you already don't have a buffer.

The Edge Pro demo on their web page shows them taping up the device to avoid scratching the demo knife so it appears that it is an issue you should think about.

Although it's pricier, that's why I'm also looking at the Wicked Edge as I do not have a high end, re-profiling quality sharpener yet.

I have been looking into the EdgePro. Is it SOP for it to scratch blades?

Not at all. I was just doing a rush job plus I never wiped the table. Also I ripped the tape off the blade before I was completely finished.

These are the only two blades I've scratched out of around 30 I've done.

My experience is you can get scratches out of softer steels (e.g. 1095) but it is really difficult with harder steels and I've never had the patience. Even with softer steels you can't readily obtain the same level of polish as the original with any ease. You can polish the blade (e.g. with Flitz or simichrome) a lot and often and over time the scratch will not be as noticable.

Lesson learned the hard way. Just curious, why would you need to sharpen the S90V out of the box? It's already super sharp..

Or maybe it wasn't that sharp. Mine would just barely shave hairs when I got it on Monday.

Mothers mag polish will take them right out.

So the mothers mag does work great, but at the same time it changed the look of the blade.

What do you do after this ankerson? Do you just polish the whole blade to make it match? And also won't it show scratches more at the higher polish?

It doesn't take much at all to get them out, just go over the blade not trying to polish the blade.

I didn't tape up my Para 2 S90V and it didn't get scratched at all.

Thanks.

Normally mine wouldn't have gotten scratched but I had a lot of slag left over on the tape from reprofiling my skyline. I was just in a hurry and didn't clean the table. So it was my fault, not the edge pro's.

I normally just switch the tapes between blades and between the stones and tapes depending.
