I don't have this knife (Case peanut, mediterranean blue), and won't ever if there isn't a way to remove the white lettering.

Can the white lettering be sanded off without damaging the [appearance of] the bone? Is there a coating on the bone that would need to be replaced afterward?

And, if possible, what would you recommend using to buff off the lettering?

Thanks for any help.

I'm betting the 'white' is undyed bone (maybe bleached, before the blue dying process). I'm assuming Case used some sort of mask to prevent the blue dye from penetrating there. If so, I'd bet sanding would likely affect the blue portions more (maybe fade it, depending on how deep the dye went). If you wanted it all blue, I think you'd have to re-dye the whole thing. I've never done that, so I have no idea how well that would work. If the bone is polished or coated, I'd assume some sanding before re-dying would help the dye penetrate.

True! I just really like the mediterranean blue I've seen; in person, it's close to perfect. As would be a peanut in that color, sans the billboard.

So close, and yet so far.

4th down-- is that the upcoming Kentucky Bluegrass? That might be a possibility.

Again, thanks for the help.

Yep, that's it (specifically, the "SECOND CUT JIGGED KENTUCKY BLUEGRASS PEANUT", Case item# 13345).
