Possibly an old Collins axe

I was in my grandmothers garage today looking for an axe and I came across a Collins axe hanging on the wall. I was just curious if the old ones have "Collins" stamped in the axe head, inside a stamped rectangle. It doesn't look like the ones made in mexico. It has a completely flat back side that has a lot of dings, and the blade side has the bare steel showing. I can tell you tho, it looks nothing like their axes do nowadays. Anyone know if it might be an old USA made one?

Oh and the paint on it looks like someone might have painted it cuz it is thick in some areas and others not so much.

Brand new one's sold today may not be stamped, I don't know. But I'm sure that Collins stamp was still used after the company was sold off in 1966. Many of those later Collins axes were not up to par with the vintage Collins axes.

Bottom line, the stamp isn't a guarantee that you've got one of the good ones.
