I generally have Lots of already heated blanks of a variety of shapes and steels.

hunters, EDC, camping, kitchen, and tomfoolery

I Have
AEB-L/Nitro V
8670
Wolfram
M2 HSS/power-hacksaw blades
Cruwear
CD1
3v

*With (Pop's) Procut released this week, I ordered 4 bars....I plan on some Crazy hard chef's knives, some daggers, EDC, and a couple field knives.

Sending this batch to Bos for heat treating I'll probably include a few bars of AEB-L for more kitchen knives, and a few choppers.

Maybe more CD1, or something else special I could be talked into.....
(These knives would be made most likely in 2026) I have around a years wait..... But it doesn't hurt to talk about your wants/needs? I'm sometimes flexible.

I'm ordering more steel this Summer, Hit me up

I'm changing and consolidated a few posts.

Over the years I've had a couple people back out of their orders, or they left Bladeforums for one reason or another.....No big deal, I understand sometimes life takes a turn with us....

But I'm wondering what to do with the blanks?

I have a fairly large wait list, it might be a couple years.

I was thinking/wondering If I should post these newly available blanks here?

More "valuable" than the knife might be the open spot....haha. currently the number 4 spot left the line. Should I offer that blank (it's a Big Chopper) or offer the spot? Or, just go to the next in line....

Two-Handed

You should decide what YOU want to do. Personally, I think it would be shitty to offer somebody the blade then go “it’ll be done in two years, thanks.”

Not sure I understand what you're saying...?

-Some makers make something on their own, then offer it when it's done.

-Some makers take orders, do customizations, and complete them as they come in. I think Randall has over a Five Year waiting list?

I'm kinda Both. I have my "waiting list" that I work from.... I agree it's not ideal. (I'm not sure what else to do)

Anyhow, along with the list, I work on stuff for Me, or things I want to work on..... Others have asked for these things, and their wait was not long since it was ready.

*Edit to add
Lots of Makers don't do customs. It's too much work for them, too much time....
I have the opposite opinion. Id Rather know who the blade is for. I like thinking about how I can make it Perfect for them.

Ultimately I'm trying to make everyone Happy.
but I know I can't

I know that My work isn't going to be for everyone....I'm more of just an outlier

-Im open for suggestions,

My suggestion is to offer the blade and slot to somebody. That way they’re not waiting two years for the knife. (The one you posted the photo of)

The way you do all the rest is completely up to you.

That's what I'm thinking of doing.

I have (2) knives in limbo.

This chopper isn't going to be needed by the original order.

The other is a 9" Chef knife that a popular member here left. They needed time away from this place. I'm still hanging onto that one just in case they come back someday. I'm in no hurry.
