The thread about overpayment on the XM-18 made me appreciate my XM-18 that much more. Not because I necessarily believe that the OP of that thread is telling the truth. Really just because of the focus of the knife itself. Considering that it's my favorite folder and just a crazy popular knife, I think it deserves it's own thread. It might help people who are waiting on their order for and XM-18 or those who are considering trying to grab one for themselves. If you got pics of your XM-18s, please post away.

I apologize ahead of time for the crappy photography and low quality pics. Here are the pics of the 3 XM-18s that I've owned. The one that I still own is the Gen 3 non-flipper 3.5" with the dark green scale:

My 1st XM-18. A Gen 3, 3.5" flipper model with a red scale. Both the blade and the ti frame are tumble finished:

Here's the 2nd XM-18 that I've owned. This is a Gen 2 3.5" flipper model with a translucent green scale. The blade is satin finished and the ti frame is "tumble" finished (stone washed):

When did you trade off you Gen 2? And on an unrelated note, have you been able to test out that Waki yet?

A few weeks ago. I wanted to raise some cash for something else. But man, I'm really digging the non-flipper version. A Gen 2 3.5" non-flipper would be the perfect folder for me. Sure I've tested out the Waki. You wouldn't believe how many imaginary fights I've had. Seriously though, I chopped one box in my living room and that's it so far. What do you think about stripping and convexing the Waki? Do you gots the skills for it?

I also prefer the non-flipper versions. I don't think I would be up for striping that monster, I was worried enough when I was just sharpening the madd maxxx, I would convex the edge though.

This thread is going to dry my salivary glands. Good one Kaizen, and yes yes, I know, I have yet to come out to one of the meets and see one of these beauties in person :D. Just never have the time:grumpy:.

Nice XMs!

I think there's one coming up soon too.

I just had a 3rd Gen 3.5" non-flipper XM-18 come in. Man I love this knife. It's easily my favorite knife! This is my first XM-18. What do you all perfer flip or non-flip?

I like the flippers on the ZT and I imagine it's also great on the XM-18. But I think the non-flip looks more sleek without the flipper.

I prefer non-flipper in the 3.5" size, but I really like my 3" flipper. Just seems to work better in that smaller size for me.

Top to bottom

3" Gen 3 flipper
3.5" Gen 3 flipper
3.5" Gen "1.5" (Gen 1 upgraded) folder
