Robert: The women clerk at the post office had a bird yesterday with the 61# box of chain.rhrocker said:Well lets see IG, I'll be getting 6 full links, plus a partial, so: That's a pair of earings, pair of cufflinks, pair or body piercing thingys for some ladys eyebrows or maybe her....humm well, and I'm not sure what I'll do with the partial link, maybe make a tooth for the gap in my upper row of teeth. Will send pictures!![]()
Its not for blades, but you could put some into a billet for a better contrast . I'll be using it mostly for fittings. Will be trying it for a hawk body with a 5160 or damascus edge.blgoode said:I.G. This may be a dumb question but....how did you know that the chain would make decent blade steel? I have a nack for finding junk everywhere but have no clue what will make good blades.......
Any hints?
OK Bubba!!!jhiggins said:Save a couple links for me, IG. I'll get them on Monday.
You need one to make it for.rhrocker said:IG said: "Robert: The women clerk at the post office had a bird yesterday with the 61# box of chain. You should make yourself a penis ring. "
Won't work, you're only sending 61 pounds.

y'all are scaring me......
IG - I've finally settled on the design I'm using for your damascus. Hopefully I get it done this weekend.![]()
Have you use bolsters or guards on your blades??? Using the anchor chain for fittings you will need to forge out the guards. I'll be offering some flat stock made out of the anchor chain in the near future.blgoode said:damn I.G.
I need to learn how to make fittings!!! Arg..
What is a good source for learning that? Trial and error?
When you start with bolsters make sure everthing is perfectly flat and perfect 90 degree angles.blgoode said:I havent done any bolster or guard work as of yet..
I am hoping my KMG with the small wheel attachment will be my ticket to grinding the bolsters once peened....thats the plan anyway.
I think the guards will follow learning the bolsters. I hope to file those using my hardened file guard thingy. I just need to make/buy some thinner files to make the slots. Then I hope to have a forge to bang some steel.....
whew..thats my developmental plan anyways. I know that time in the shop will do alot for me as well.......
