Post Holiday Season knife buying?

I buy kinda year round. when i have the extra money and something catches my eye. ive seen somthings you've made that's caught my eye...might pester ya this early next year......

plus new stuff gets released i tend to purchase from those releases too.

price wise just depends.....on what it is......

My buying habits don’t really change much at all around the holidays. I buy when I find something I really like or sell/trade when I’m not feeling a knife as much as I thought I would. That being said, my interests have tapered down quite a bit where there’s not much I’m chasing these days. I have been trying to get my hands on a Richard Rogers Slim Utility with teal titanium for a while, so if I come across one of those for around $350. Otherwise I’ll probably try to get something in magnacut once there are more options floating about.

I dont slow down a whole lot. I'll most likely get something from my wife and daughter that I will like, but not love, for Christmas. I'm sure I'll get a couple of Amazon cards, so I usually splurge in the $150ish range before the end of winter break.

I have a birthday in February, so I usually get my self a little something. My dad hands out little cash Christmas bonuses every year at work. It isn't anything that will pay for a vacation but they aren't Jelly of the Month club either :D So if I am patient and hang onto that along with a little birthday cash, I should be in good position for either another Microtech or CRK by the end of that month.

It's hard to say for me. Sometimes I go a few months without purchasing a new knife, and think I'm done for a while, just to get bit by the bug anew and go on a spree with multiple coming in within a short period. It doesn't really go by season for me, nor do I plan it at all, but rather I see a knife and it speaks to me.

Keep in mind that though many stop spending on themselves during the holidays, and some may take a while to recoup financially, early tax return season is just around the corner. This leaves some flush with funds burning a hole in their pocket.

If I'm lucky I'll get few custom jobs done by the end of this year on some of my existing projects - regrind on my Griptilian,
apparently it is impossible to find somebody to do a hollow grind on the Tanto blade,
so disappointing since I'm not looking for anything really special...
I'm also waiting for scales for the same knife from Deathgrips, a set of Fat Carbon GoldCamo scales coming from Suingab for my Endura zdp,
I'm planning on getting the Police in K390 and do some mods with it, going with better (more round) scales, wave mode and DLC coating of the polished blade.
I'll also try to shell some $$ for my Manix LX project for David Mary.

For the knives that I really want, I'll have to wait and get really lucky to have the funds in the moment when the knives are available but let's try:

MT Ultratech hopefully they have it in dagger bade with one site serrated, or if I'm lucky to find a Scarab...
Another OTF, I'll probably try to get Guardian Tactical model.
Borka Blades Stitch auto or manual, whatever I can find.
The new MT Bravo Chinese edition in tanto if the blade length is same as the clip point.
I really like to lay my hands on two Spartans: The limited edition Bill Harsey's with some art work, and Les George's less expensive version, both great knives IMO.
I don't think I'll be that lucky to find one of my grails - the Microtech Whaleshark, any shape and form, I don't mind the less expensive version or used but in good shape more custom piece.
I like to get a Tops Magnum 747 in clip point, even I don't go crazy for clip point, to match my M-Tech knock off that really got my interest in knives years ago and that I have to dig out of my fishing boxes.

I'm sure I'll get few more knives, but this is what I can think from the top of my head for now... They are models coming out every month,
probably I'll grab few Chinese knives, I'm extremely happy with the Petrified Fish I acquired from G2 here ( did I thank you Gary ?)

I’m fairly new to this game, so I’ve never experienced the Christmas season hurting the next year’s questionable knife purchases. 😅 The max I’d spend around Christmas would be around $100-$150. Anything after can be a bit higher or lower.

Other than the ones I'm waiting to arrive now, I'll be buying a few more knives that have been on my nice list, but focusing more on a few quality ones over getting a bunch of intermediate level knives that fill out niches in the collection. To my great shame I've yet to buy a Hinderer, so I'll be getting one of those and maybe a nice custom puukko from Bulgaria at some point. There's also a few knives that I have ticked off on the buy the moment they're available, so that's probably going to happen. Of course if knife companies keep putting out new, shiny things I badly want I may stray to pick up some of them along the way. I can't imagine buying as many knives as I did this year, but the future is unwritten (in truth I can totally imagine buying even more knives next year, but I'm going to try to be a bit more focused).

People often tap themselves out financially around the holiday season, and purchases that the rest of the year would be a drop in the bucket become rare, if not completely off limits. So as a maker who does this for a living, I am curious to know what kind of knives in what price range you are likely to buy in January, and February, if any? No sense in making something extravagant during the cold winter months that won't pay my heating bills, if you know what I mean.
If I can find your email address, a reblade. Also had a question about thick (really thick) blade material for a project.

That depends on what our next 2 knives are gonna cost... 😁

Hopefully my only knife transaction next year will be selling. I'm reducing to the few I actually want to carry and use and hoping to make some money back on the others. Then I'm just going to try and use and appreciate what I have while working on some other goals.
