Hello...

I haven't seen a thread about this yet... but could you post pics of your DOG?

It would be nice if you had pics of your dog as a puppy, young, and then adult...

My wife and I are looking for the right dog (it has to be medium size dog because of where we live) and I'd like to see what you guys have...

Also, please tell me his/her name and breed...

THANKS a bunch!!!!!!!

EDIT: The reason for this post here is because I am looking for a companion dog to go along to hikes, camping, and backpacking (when i get to do it more :D )

We have had dog threads before. You should get a lot of enthusiastic responses. But just because you want the dog for a wilderness companion doesn't make this a wilderness topic -- just dogs.

How about Community Center? :)

i wanted to see dogs from people here though :( dogs that are good companions for the wilderness...

Meet Jimmy!

He's my new Jack Russell Terrier or Terror as he's known by the family.

He's 12 weeks old in that photo. Today at 5 months he's about doubled in size but still just a little guy.

Here he is with my other buddy, Bubba (pit/lab mix)

His name is Solstice. He's a four year old Corgi/Cattle dog, he hikes, tracks has done agility. A little to smart for his own good sometimes, but he IS the best dog I've ever had.

Ah, come on Esav. I agree it's off topic slightly, but everybody loves the dog threads in W&SS...

He's still going to get outdoor dogs! Everyone reads the OP, even if they post right away before reading the rest. This way, we get more people posting also.

This my border collie Dave, he defo enjoys any time out and about on the trail. :)

Here's my Pointer/Coonhound, Dice today after walking in the wet woods and he wanted to try out my Spyderco, I was using to trim branches off the trails.

Sadie, the landlord's dog. I have many trail miles with her. She's a border collie aussie sheperd mix and in my opinion has the. perfect. period. temprement for a companion dog. She's wild at heart but quiet in soul and fiercely aggressively territorial with animals and appropriately so with humans. She's very content-doesn't beg or seek attention and always seems to know what's going on in the background. Overall, low maintenance. I have seen her work over dogs much larger than her. She keeps the foxes, skunks, porcupines and coyotes out of the neighborhood, and all the cat owners in the area love her because of it. She sits unleashed on the front lawn, occasionally trotting the block like a sentry to make sure everything is normal. She stops, looks and listens before crossing the street on her own. I swear she's the smartest dog I've ever encountered. She's about 35 pounds, a very easily manageable size to live in a house as long as she gets her miles-and she can put on LOTS. I've never seen her tired from exhaustion and she's followed me on plenty of 20+ mile dayhikes. If you're looking for a real dog and not your personal bitch on a leash, consider one of these. Also look into Norwegian Elkhounds, they look similar to a small German Sheperd and are notorious for their long range and tracking capabilities.
PS she's a first class river rat, I think she probably has more whitewater miles on her than any other dog in Idaho.
