Post Turkey Day Giveaway

Let's bump this thread for anyone who hasn't seen it yet. I'll make the decision after Christmas so get in while you can!

i never win anything and those leather guards will probably not fit my BATAK anyway, but here is my story.

Well I was going through knives like tooth picks. Especially after having to leave a hand made knife, which I considered a work of art, behind. I realized pretty fast that I can buy a $20 blade and it would do the job just fine, but it will only do it once after that I'd have to throw it away. Anyway that was my reasoning up until I came by Mercworx Sniper, which I still think is the best shape for a combat blade. But then I saw the price and was really put down. I was thinking well I'll put $300+ on a knife and in a few uses it'll be gone. But I liked the idea of a good knife, so I decided took further into it. I came buy a destruction test of Strider, and it preformed a lot better then I thought a knife could. After seeing how much Strider costs I found out they had a decent warranty, and was about to commit, when I remembered that for the similar price I can get what I always wanted but could never justify buying, Microtech halo III. Now that would go against reliability as compared to fix Blades I needed, but it would have been my back up knife and it should do just fine.

That whole thing left me completely confused, as I no longer had any idea of what wanted. But in my Searches for info on the knives a often came by things posted on BF so I decided to create an account and just ask people here which knife I should get. After posting my concerns in the General discussion I was immediately scolded for overlooking Busse when I was looking for knives with best warranty.

So I made my way here and started asking around before short I knew what I wanted, it was BAIII. At that point I thought I could buy any model of busse that there is on the bussecollector site for that price. Boy was I wrong. And being true Hog Guyon is, he proceeded to post crapload of pictures of the knife I now new I couldn't get (it still hurts).

Without noticing it, I was drawn in. I guess I was sold after I found out about the warranty, but man I cough the bug bad. I read up on infi and it was amazing. I almost scored a nice custom shop on the exchange, but couldn't force myself to pay a more then reasonable price (no regrets). But the second choice was BATAC so I decided to pull the trigger, and when I finally decided about color combo skunk announced the arrival of fatty GW's. I couldn't decide which to get I needed the BATAC more but wanted the GW a bit more. So I just bought two of them. To be honest at first I thought of reselling the GW and keeping the BATAC. When I got the knives I knew I would not sell the GW. But the BATAC looked like a disappointment. But I've never done a 180 so quickly in my life. After 5 minutes the knife grew so much on me that I didn't want to part with it and proceeded to chop things up...many, many things. I ran out of Phone books and everything I could get my hands on really fast. Ever since I've been a loyal fan of Jerry and his work.

I need infi.

If you want in, post by 10:00 PM Pacific Time. After that, I'll have my girlfriend read through them and choose the story she likes best .

Well I know it's like a dirty word around here, but I actually found out about Busse through the Knifetests website. I was browsing through the various brands tests and saw the Busse Fusion Battle Mistress. Now I know damn well that I am never going to need to baton through a steel pipe. However, why not have a knife that is CAPABLE of doing it!!!

After that, I found bladeforums and the wonderful "Exchange" section full of Busse-kin knives. I actually found the money to buy a couple of ScrapYard knives first. They were great, but my holy grail remained the FBM. Finally I was able to make a trade for 3 of my ScrapYards for a FFBM!! I am in love.

I unfortunately don't have the money to buy every new one that comes along. I am not a collector, all my knives are users. However, my few Busses will always have a special place in my heart and I will accquire more when possible.

Thanks for the giveaway!

Little over a year ago was surfing through Falfiles at work and (?Pitbulloflove) had posted a picture of a knife he just got - Son of Dogfather... so I do some googling (saw the other Scrapyard review on knifeworks). I spent a few days thinking it over and finally decided to order one (I mean it didn't seem like you got much for the cost - resiprene handle and no sheath????) Well, I missed ordering one. It's funny how when something moves away from you, you start wanting it more. Unfortunately I knew nothing about the Bussekin exchange here on Bladeforums and bought one off, well, take a guess.
It arrived and I COULDN'T put it down. Then I found the exchange, and spent a week trying to decide what to get next - a sage and tan FFBM. Spent some months of trial and error with kydex to make sheaths. Found an EH3 - in sage and tan. The M9LEs came along, got a Sus Scrofa to hold me over till those arrived.
Fell out for a while, missed Blade, I'm not even sure if I still got charged for the room :grumpy: Then the Tankbuster came out, mulled and mulled over ordering one, busy at work, upcoming uncertainties and such.

Back in gear now and 2010 is going to be great! Hell, I might even get a dog.

Thanks everyone for sharing some pretty awesome stories; safetyman's Post turkey Day GAW is officially over. Bigfattyt, yours was especially appealing to the gf so it looks like you're the new owner of the gear pictured in my first post!

Thanks for the chance safetyman and congrats on nearing 1k

Bigfattyt, congratulations:thumbup:

If spikes aren't your thing, I'll take one off your hands :foot:;)
