Post your D2 knives: Folders especially

Wow that Sifu is awesome Ha! I'll take a look at that now...thanks for adding that man, might be the one I get now.


EDIT- Ahh nvm, seems it's not for sale anymore and I cant seem to find it on the net :( too bad too. If you ever consider selling it let me know.

Pretty sure that knife is way discontinued by now... I heard it used to be really popular back in the day. The design sure looks nice; I probably would have liked one if I was into knives back then.
 
Just FYI but there is now 2 versions of D2, the regular D2 and the CPM Powdered Metallurgical CPM D2. They have the same composition but the CPM D2 because of the ways its made is the SUPER version oif the regular D2. It can have a keener cleaner edge while at the same time is more corrosion resistant. CPM D2 is tougher at the same hardness. Kershaw has 3 folders using CPM D2 but in a new way. They stuck the CPM D2 to regular stainless steel as the edge and made it look like a hamon line.

Kershaw Limited Edition Tyrade

Spyderco made a Military out of CPM D2 but I think that those are sold out.

There is also a variant of the regular D2 but tempered in a different way. Its called Friction Forged D2. Only available so far from 1 maker and they make only fixed blades.

Wow those really dropped in price. I was checking those out one day but couldn't get passed the copper line. I suppose what I could do is use a bit of my duracoat and make it the color I like. Actually I think I'll get this one as its pretty cheap and maybe pick up the Griptilian as well. I just cant seem to pick one so... Im glad you posted that though as I dont think I can get much of a better package deal for that price. Kind of forgot about those.

So far Benchmade has resisted making non stainless uncoated blades - that might have changed with the release of the D2 uncoated models like the 710 and 912 and some small fixed blades. But the only way that I see Benchmade making M4 blades is if they make a sprint run and those go for very mucho premium. There is also the question of wether they will use regular M4 or the CPM M4. And if they do make the 710M4 then most probably its going to be coated just like the M2HS 710 blades.

I must confess that I have voiced to Roger of www.knifeworks.com that if he can convince Benchmade to make the 710M4HS, that I would get at least two and that they would be the only production company that makes folders out of CPM M4 ( a big plus point in my view )
