I helped forge the one on the bottom here with the help of a blacksmith around here,

Can't get real good picture sin the shed but I tried

The double bit at the bottom has no handle, pictured it up covered in rust and all sorts, haven't yet been able to clean it up to my liking yet, another shelved project for now

Another cold steel, I forget the model, a little beat up from The gathering still

A double bit hawk, can't find any markings on it but it cuts liek a demon and is my main wood chopping axe, this was a Christmas gift form my father in law

A belknap, bluegrass hawk, a company Kentucky (Louisville) that is actually quite collectable for some I'm told, it's older though you wouldn't know it by how it works

You`ve got a great collection going on, I`ve got quite a few hatchets, and one double bit out in the shop too.

thanks, you to, tend to find them even if the yard sale/flea market etc doesn't have any knives (often cheaper to )

Love your very early American Tomahawk Company Ranger Spike Hawk and the forged hawk looks like expert craft to me, thanks for sharing the pictures

Quality is very good on these, I`ve had mine about 5 years now.

In my pre JK days I had these,a Wolf Creek forge & another JK,Justin King spike hawk.

I had fun throwing 'em...

but this is the only way I could get the J King to stick.

Then I got the belt hawk that started the JK Hawk craze.(I still need to send it back for a rehandle.)

Great idea for a thread John! I don't have a hawk, but thought that I would show you this Plumb/Anchor hewing hatchet that I told you about on the phone...This thing takes a great edge and does pretty much all I need in a chopper. It is probably from the early 1900's...









I still do like the look of the belt hawk though, maybe someday...

I only have one hawk and it is a Fort Turner forged throwing hawk.

I believe weight is around 24 oz. I`ve tested a couple, they work well, especially with the longer head I now put on them (4 1/2" front to back vs 4" on the older ones.)
