i saw that many attended the annual GEC rendezvous and the Queen open house. i had an awesome time. the best part of the trip was when i got to meet Mr. Campagna. He has a great collection of barlows. After a few minutes of talking he asked me if i had a scout knife. I said no. He then pulled out a great Camillus scout knife and asked for a coin.....

Great thread idea, looking forward to seeing your goodies. Charlie is generous to a fault :)

Alrighty, well, from the Rendezvous I purchased these beauties, right from the man himself:

I initially purchased the two blade Charlow in smooth bone, since that's what I primarily collect (bone). I told myself to be content and happy with the single purchase and leave it at that.

Yeah, right. That lasted about an hour...
After hearing Charlie tell another guest about the history of the walnut used in the covers, I was done for. I even knew about it beforehand, but I just couldn't resist. The walnut single blade practically jumped into my pocket!

The day before Katie and I visited the Queen Cut Co collector's show in nearby Pleasantville, PA. I was very impressed. We got to sit and listen to David Anthony's presentation on collecting early American pocket cutlery, and he even asked me to pass around my Bill Atkins rebuilt Tidioute equal end to show other attendees. I was honored. Mr Anthony brought along a fantastic selection of old Northfield and Tidioute knives and ephemera that was a real treat to see. I perused the show for a couple hours and wound up bring home these three:

Top to bottom we have:
1. A GEC Cyclops 33 Conductor in stainless and stag. This is my first stainless GEC, and it's a lovely, elegant little knife.
2. A Tidioute #23 in Green Reptile jigged bone with the SARPNT blade etch. The tube gives a little mysterious history behind the etch, and it's very interesting/entertaining.
3. This one is neat. I purchased it just because it was reasonably priced and a nice old easy-open jack. The tang stamp was very difficult to read, and he admittedly had no idea what it was. After getting back to the hotel and really scrutinizing it (and getting some help from the Bernard Levine subforum), I came up with Globe Cut Co. I've emailed Charlie Noyes about it, and he let me know that this was a Robeson-made contract knife dating from between 1921-1929! An exciting and unexpected find, indeed!

We had a really great weekend all told. I can't wait for next year! It may wind up being our baby's first knife event! ;)

Here is my bounty from the show. The show was great and so was the tour. Very interesting, just don't ask about the bone dying process. :o
I would have liked to spend more time talking with everyone but my time was limited. My apologies and I hope to make up for it next year.

Top one is a steak knife in 440c stainless. My first GEC branded knife.
And the all important TPOP and it it's cousin. :D

The walnut TC Barlows were popular.

Dan all your knives are really nice. That EO jack is really something. Wish I saw it in person. Looks like the other show is good one. Oh well, next year!
I was set on smooth white bone and I also changed my mind after hearing the walnut story. Had I been able to buy two the white bone would have been my 2nd. Glad I made the right choice.

That SARPNT is pretty sweet. The jigging is cool.

Thank you! I had previously seen an example in GEC's factory display cases and fell in love with it. When I saw this one for sale at the QCC show, I couldn't leave without it. It especially helped when I asked the seller if he was flexible at all on the price and he dropped it $40!

Thanks Brian! From what I heard (not 100% sure that it's true), the Queen show is held every two years. I'll definitely be at the next one!

A great knives guys. Seem that the walnut sheepfoot Barlow was popular, hope that I could get one through Charlie.

Dan, your 23 jigging reminds me a corn cob jigging on an old Case tested I have, here is a photo for reference

Show more to the ones who left home..

GEC did a version of the Boy's knife with an EO notch, and a "SCOUT" shield! Did anyone get one at the show? They were real nice - I have a couple on the way!!

I'm patiently waiting for the antique yellow bone. Although the ebony was very tempting.

Most excellent! I heard of this after the fact, and am sorry I missed it in realtime. Thanks for the picture!

So funny! I missed what happened after that critical hour, so was amused (and understanding) when I saw your picture.

Ahem.

Okay, next time-- I'd like to see this knife, and so many others.

All fine, of course, but that Robeson-made Globe is really something. Congrats on the find!

Top, middle, or bottom? Either way, you sure picked a good 'un, as your pictures show. Nicely done. :)

I really (really) like the looks of these finished knives, especially the two-bladers. The ebony one I saw at the factory has haunted me since I left it there. Some schmutzy red bone ones went by on a tray, and looked good enough I can only imagine how they'll look once cleaned up. Antique yellow is going to be kil-lah.

This/these accompanied me home, a combination of gifts, gift-priced bargains, and outright splurges:

^ Excellent pics P, some lovelies there (those Osh Kosh dungarees remind me of when my daughter was a young 'un! :D).

Yeah, right. That lasted about an hour...

LOL! :D

The day before Katie and I visited the Queen Cut Co collector's show in nearby Pleasantville, PA.

There's really a place called Pleasantville?! I LOVE that film! :D

It was a great day, albeit a little rainy, but that's ok, kept it cool.

Probably the neat part of the loot was being able to meet some of the people from the forums and to chat a brief while with Charlie, he was VERY popular there!!!

And on the more material side of things, I'm never shy about showing off these two beauties!! Afterward I did stop at the other knife show down the road but I was spent and wandered aimlessly until I found the door again and made my exit and drove the 4 hours home...long day! but worth it for sure.

Big thanks to Charlie aka Waynorth, for this first production run of the spear point TC Barlows, has the PPP on the one side, lovely knife!!!
