Yvsa... Being that the FF has become a reality, are you still interested in selling off some of the pieces in your collection, including the Chitlangi as described below? If so, that Chit has my name written on it! :D

Dan the Cheetlang/Cheetlangi was offered by Ghurka House and although I lusted after one I refused to buy from Craig Gottlieb, owner of Ghurka House, for several reasons and never did. I, actually Rusty and me both, wouldn't even buy the nicely done video he made in Nepal at the Khukuri House shop.
I'm not sure where the design originated but suspect that it was a design that Jag and Prem brought to the Khukuri House themselves as it wasn't offered there very long until Jag and Prem went to work for HI.
If you could talk Bill into getting me a nice 17"-18" Foxy Folly I would consider selling you the very first HI Cheetlangi. But that is highly unlikely as I have bugged Bill about it now and then with no positive results.
Actually if I could get a Foxy Folly in that size I would most likely sell off the rest, well most of the rest anyway, of my HI khukuri's.
I would have to keep the Hanuman Special, 27" Royal Banspati, M-43, and maybe a couple of others.
I'm considering getting a gold membership in a while so I can legally sell off a few here on bladeforums anyway as there's some other things I want...

Dan sorry but even being an HI moderator without having a gold membership I really can't discuss selling any khukuris through bladeforums dot com.
It just wouldn't be fair for me to take advantage of my position even if it were permitted for me to sell without a gold membership.
However I have some -I- might consider selling but I haven't made a firm decision to do so as yet and I also haven't decided on which ones I might get rid of.
When/If I do make a decision to sell part of my collection I'll upgrade to gold beforehand and post it here first.
I did upgrade to a Basic Member to help support the forums in my small way and it is worth every damned penny of the 10 bux to do so with the privileges being a Basic Member brings!!!!
And there have been way too many guys that have ponied up for a gold in order to be able too sell for me not to do the same and I'm not the only one here living on a fixed retirement income.
And I have to be able too look at myself in the mirror when I shave every third morning.:p ;) :D
The $25.00 cost for a gold membership is dirt cheap when you consider the extra privileges it gives you over the Basic $10 bux jobber!!!!

However the way I feel right now the very first HI Chitlangi has won a place in my heart and is one that will pass down to my heir's, it's just a damned fine khukuri all the way around.:D
Sorry.:(
Doesn't mean I may not change my mind later though, hell a man can't leave his heir's every damned thing he has collected. ;) :D

Oftentimes I use the forum's search function, and I find myself usually looking at "anything Chitlangi"... :) As you know, I really admire the Chit!

I wasn't aware that you aren't able to post any offerings personally. :o I agree that you did a good turn by purchasing a Basic Membership; it helps keep the website healthy financially.

Anyway, back to my question... I was kind of excited when I came upon this previous post of yours, and am not the least surprised that you've decided to hold on to the #001 Chitlangi. I wouldn't let it go either, believe me. I was just hoping. As you well know, one of the signs of advanced HIKV is that the individuals afflicted oftentimes change their minds... :D

Thanks, Yvsa! If you ever do change your mind again, you have my e-mail address. :footinmou :D

Yvsa - what are the specs for the first chitlangi? Was it a 21" and how much did it weigh?

By the way, I get a new lens for my right eye tomorrow. I hope that all goes well.

Good luck Arty. They did that for my friend and it went easy. Ask for a Steiner or Leopold lens, or the unpronouncable German one; Swaroski. Just kidding. Best wishes.

Hi Munk - Thanks, but I would be happy with a Swift....even a Nikon would do, but I'd rather a Swift.

Hi Howard - Thanks. Theoretically, the liklihood of complications is very low(< 2%). Of course, if you are one of the individuals with a problem, the probability becomes 100%.

Arty I usually have my Chitlangi setting close by but since we've got back from Phoenix I haven't been feeling real good so everything with the knives are as it was when we came in the door.
I don't recall the weight but it is double fullered and feels lighter than it probably is. The length is 21-5/8" the best I remember. :D  :D

The best of LUCK with your surgery and I pray yours goes as well or better than mine did/has. I can't hardly wait until later in the year to get the right cataract removed!!!!
It is absolutely amazing at how much brighter the world is, hell even TV is more attractive. ;) :D

I am on my way out to see the Doc. - hope that I can post some good news soon.

My vision is now 20/20 in my right eye, and was comparable last night. I just wish that I had scheduled the cataract procedure for my other eye for next week, rather than in 2 weeks.
I have no idea what went on, since the anesthesiologist didn't want to hear me talk and put me out. He gave me drugs to make me forget the procedures... it is weird - I have a vague memory of seeing things moving in my eye, but that is all.

Great news, arty.

I think eye surgery is pretty high up on the list of procedures no one wants.

Wonderful news Arty. Aren't you glad it's done now and you can see better? :D

Right up there with gelding and rootcanal without anesthesia>>>>>>> Thomas Linton

When I had a vasectomy, the Doctor used a laser. At least, I think he did. It looked like a soldering iron, and that burnt smell in the room was me.

It might also have been some kind of electrical gadget. I've used one of those a couple of times as well, only as an assistant though. I'm telling you, they'd be cool to have at home. close cuts in seconds. I'm afraid though it might hurt a bit. The current pretty much burns your arteries closed.
