Posting BK29 thread here too.

how do you get from "kabar did several limited run knives" to "kabar has lost faith in BK&T"?
esp when they came out with a new BK&T knife in October?
they also did a limited run Jarocz hunter last year -- does that mean they've lost faith in Jesse?

Spyderco does frequent "sprint runs" - which is pretty much what Kabar did -- does that mean Spyderco has no faith in their customers, either?

What I am trying to say/figure out is why is a great knife that people want only limmited produced. I would be guessing it's because they know it won't sell if the put it in the catalog. To me it sounds like they are tickling the designers butt to make him feel good that they atleast made a few to keep him happy. I know they dident make enough because i dident get one.

Buck only made 13 of these. So sad to see Buck give up on themselves.

They only made 3 forks? If i was that fork designer i would be pissed. It may have been the best selling fork line of all time.

You are being disrespectful. There is a right and a wrong way to ask a question.
You missed out on a limited edition. So what. Buy something else.

I missed out on aDodge Hellcat. Why didn’t they make more? Why is the 57 Chevy a one year only body style? How come I can’t have everything I want?

My wife works at Dodge. Send me the money and we can get you one. Body shop has lots of them.
Why would anybody want a 57 chevy. The 55 was way cooler. Proof? Two Lane Black Top and American Graffiti.

At least you are not being disrespectful anymore. Hope you find what you want.

Ethan Becker is a frequent poster here on Bladeforums. You will get better responses to your question if you just ask him nice “how come it’s discontinued? Will they ever make more?” There is probably a good reason.

If you ever worked in manufacturing you’d know sometimes it is just a matter of a specific machine being needed for another process. Or an issue with a specific raw material. Etc.

they made a pallet of the BK 20 blades -- when they went on sale Kabar announced there are only this many and there won't be any more.
the folks who wanted one ordered theirs quick, then word got out and the rest were sold over the course of a few months.
a year or so later, they did the same thing with the BK29 -- again limited run, first announced to folks who subscribe to KaBar emails and/or were regulars on the BK&T subforum.

same process for the Jarocz hunter and the BK98 Tuko -- only those were smaller runs.

They weren't left out of the catalog because they wouldn't sell, they were left out of the catalog because they were produced as a limited run. Everything that gets added to the catalog requires something else to be discontinued.

You didn't get one because you showed up at the sale 2 years late. Simple truth.

I was there - didn't buy one because I had a 20 (and liked it better)...and because I didn't want the stuff it was bundled with; but it wasn't a quick sell out. There was plenty of time to purchase if one wanted the knife.
