Posting ideas a bad idea?

I'm an amateur knife maker (at least I hope to become one) and I've been drawing out rough drafts and what-not and I've been thinking about posting my ideas to possibly get some feedback and make sure I'm not inadvertantly plagerizing anyone elses work.

However is it wise to post ideas on a public forum?

+1 on this. I'm not a knifemaker myself, of course, but from everything I've seen on this forum and elsewhere there's a lot of camaraderie and respect among the knifemakers. You should have nothing to worry about in terms of posting your ideas, and will almost certainly benefit greatly from the feedback and discussion.
 
At the same time, there's really nothing to keep someone from using your idea's as their own either...just sayin...
