First I want to say please post your help as you wish in this forum.
I do want to say that you will get many opinion and thoughts on how to ... do this and that. Most folks do what they feel is right or have experience with .
I dont take kindly to folks getting an attitude because others have differnt opinions.
Your opinion is your opinion!
If you want to jost ok but leave your ego and statis out of it ok?

Also I want to say that my opinion is my opinion. If I feel that what Im saying is what is right for my situation. It is my opinion to do so.
YOU HAVE YOURS AND I HAVE MINE.

What I say is not the only word here. There are many good opinions here . Use what you think fits YOUR situation and what you think makes since to you.

Thanks

Ralph,

Not sure what all prompted your post but rest assured that we old timers respect and appreciate both your work as a moderator and your insightful postings.

The various viewpoints expressed are usually quite stimulating. I'm not a maker, rather simply one who appreciates the results you talented folk produce.

Regardless, keep the faith

I did NOT escape from the institution! They gave me a day pass!

Thanks for the kind words.
The problem is that is that folks need to understand that an opinion is an opinon NOT A BASH on anothers ways of doing a process.
I tend to be short of time and post and go ..
Just want to be clear here is all.
I enjoy this forum. I dont answer all the questions. I dont feel as a moderator its my job to answers all the posts. I do feel that from time to time I should throw my 2 cents in . Thats all. And keep the peace :]

Enjoy just want to make sure everyone understands that all opinion are welcome.

I like the fact that people are able to express different opinions on this forum, thats the way it should be. If there were'nt different schools of thought on how this or that should be done with knifemaking then we would all be making the same thing. Think how boring and uninspiring that would be! Lots of people have figured out different ways to try to achieve the same results, this is called progress. If you don't speak up when you think something should be done differently you are cheating yourself (and us) of a potential change/process that no-one, except yourself, might have thought of. But don't take offense if someone disagrees with you, keep an open mind as you stand by your guns, you might learn something. I know I have learned more than I could have hoped for when I found this forum. Its the "Shop Talk" that brought me to BF and its what'll make me stay! Thanks Darrell for taking time from your busy schedule to keep things on an even keel! You do a great job! BTW if I swore now would you lock this post? (JK)

As some wise, anonymous person said, "There's more than one way to skin a cat." Just because another's approach to a problem is different doesn't make it better or worse, just different. To use a word that is being destroyed by the politicians, diversity in approaches will give us all a choice of solutions applicable to different circumstances. Vive la difference!
Sincerely, Chris

Darrel,

You have created a terrific forum for knifemakers and other to learn from. I'm not into knife making (yet), but your forum is always a pleasure to visit and the content is always very interesting. A lot of you knifemakers seem to enjoy teaching and sharing. That says a lot to me.

ON SOAPBOX
All professions are involved in differences of opinion. Part of being a professional involves dealing with your peers in a respectful and courteous manner. This is just expected. Those who don't practice basic courtesy and respect in my profession are looked on by their peers as something less than professional.
OFF SOAPBOX

Almost everyone who has been on the internet any length of time understands the implied IMO/IMHO etc... . Hopefully all newcomers will learn to be respectful of others in time. Shoot, even rec.knives has been really civilized lately. Seems that the regulars are catching on there.

Anyway, thanks again for making your forum a rewarding place to learn and share!

Keep up the great work, Mr Moderator!

Great forum

The opinions, advice, and experiences told on this forum are not worth one penny less
then what they cost you (the reader). I do not agree with some things that are said and the attitude that it is said with. I would argue with a fact, but "I can't argue with someones opinion". As with everything in life (and the Net) don't believe it just because somebody said it.
There is a lot of great things that I have learned off this and other forums. What is it again we did with our time before the forum(s)?
Finally, Darrel,
Thank you for all your time that you have given to the forum. We are very lucky to have you and the other moderators on BladeForums.
Have A Great Day

I'll have to say that I have benefited greatly by the variety of opinions. I believe that this forum would be much more useless if there weren't such a variety. Thanks, Darrel, for your efforts.
