I have some interesting knives, would post photos - will gladly pay for a membership, but will not use PayPal in any way. I keep photos on my computer, and have been able to post everywhere else I have tried but here. No computer guy. I do not want Cloud, or any of the other photo repositories. Any suggestions? Have posted similar questions before.

Imgur is very easy to use as an unpaid memeber.

Just use paypal lol. You're already on a forum on the internet, there is nothing paypal can do to you that other websites havent already done.

All photo hosting site are essentially “the cloud” so without using one of those or a paid account, you cannot post photos here.
Several of the hosting site allow hosting without an account, if that is an acceptable compromise.

Selling here also requires a paid account. Then it is a simple matter of copying and pasting images off one's computer. Seamless. And Paypal is one of the safest and quickest ways to conduct transactions. Far better than any of that old-school stuff like checks in the mail or driving around to a post office and fooling with a money order. This is 1960s archaic and totally obsolete.

Thanks - just no interest in that. I was heavily involved in a variety of photo sites with no need for any of that.

No accusation of theft - simply money was there, announed then gone. I also do not care for their politics. My fault, buyer'a fault, their fault, I will never do business with them again in any way. I haven't bothered to look for other knife sites - this one is interesting. That may be the solution - ino longer have the interest or agility to jump through hoops to play.

Sounds like a story there. But yeah, best knife site out there, and it'll work much easier for ya just by using paypal. Not a requirement, but way easier with it. We all have grievances with every major corporation, but they're too prevalent to ignore entirely.

I don’t see an issue here. Just buy a membership here so you can post photos and then don’t use PayPal. Doesn’t seem that complicated.

With a membership, you can post photos here, just have to scale down a bit. This is 1000x750, for example:

And ask to be paid by Money Order, Zelle or similar, whatever you prefer.

You can upload photos to https://postimages.org/ and then link them to your forum posts using the "Insert Image" button in the post editor menu! Super easy! I don't think you even need to register an account, just upload and then copy/paste the DIRECT LINK address from the bottom of the page.

As a registered user, you can post pictures using a picture hosting site. There are several free ones.
If you use imgur,
create a free account
Click <NEW POST>
Follow the directions to upload.
Once a picture has been uploated, go to the top right and mouse over the bubble with the first letter of your user name. That gives you a drop down.
Select "Posts"
That will show all your images. Click the image you want to post, then to the right at the top, copy "GRAB A LINK" address.
Then go to your post and click the "insert Image" tool on the tool bar. (It is located between the LINK tool and the SMILEY tool.)
Paste the picture address into the resulting popup, then click "Insert".

If you use another hosting site:
Once you have uploaded a picture to the hosting site, copy the web address of the picture. Note: picture web addresses must end in .jpg .png or .gif

Then go to your post and click the image tool on the toolbar next to the smiley tool. Click the link icon in the popup. (Looks like a chain.) Paste the picture address into the window. Then click the INSERT button.

Many thanks for taking the trouble to make a useful and lengthy reply. For various reasone, I store my images in my own devices. I do enjoy the site and will continue to follow and comment. I would gladly pay for membership if there was a way outside PayPal. I'm about as stubborn as they come. Again, thank you!

Understood.

For the record, I store my photos on a hard drive, but I also create reduced size photos and upload those to an image site. Then when I post a pic, I link to the image on the hosting site. This allows me to repost photos easily from the image site. As many knives as I have, in some 20 years of membership, I have often found the need to post the same image multiple times.

The easiest way to reduce the size of the photo is to bring it up on screen and use a screen shot of that area of the screen. Windows and Linux both have software that will do that. I assume that IOS does too. The resulting photo file is usually about 600K rather than 4.5 MB. And on a screen, both will look the same.

We've gone down this road numerous times now. If you don't want to pay via PayPal, not even through an actual PayPal account, nor store your images online, then you are going to have to deal with the self-imposed limitations you face. We, (the moderators), do not control the purse strings and the owner has established a means of payment that has satisfied the great majority of members who wish to avail themselves of the benefits of paid membership.

While I understand the OP's personal dilemma and concern, at this point it's been asked and answered numerous times and he has the choice to either make a personal concession in order to enjoy the benefits he seeks, (without asking for special treatment), or move on and accept the limitations he has chosen by default via his unwillingness to consider using PayPal as an avenue for facilitating payment, or storing his images in a "cloud" account.
