I play a lot of guitar and am a finger-picker.
My right hand has nails. My left does not.
I also live alone on mountain and frequently work with my hands so my personal grooming standards may be an offront city folks.

Dirty hands or long, dirty nails CAN distract from the product (in our case, knives). But if the person makes knives or spends time outdoors, dirty hands can result, so I ignore the mitts and focus on the knives.
