I would like some information/assistance if anyone out there is willing to take the time to point me in the right direction.

I realize that I make this post at the expense of showing my lack of computer/web expertise.

How do I post pictures on this board--or others, given the fact that I already have pictures in my e-mail box?

I would appreciate your assistance.

thanks

Matt

Hello,

I completely understand your frustration!!! I am completely a computer idiot!!! Through trial and error I have figured out how to post pictures with my photopoint album... Here is a little picture for your viewing pleasure....

Now, please remember grasshopper --- This knowledge has taken me many moons to figure out!!!! I will only attempt to try and explain how this is done.... I just go to one of my photopoint pictures, open it up, and once it is open I 'right' click my mouse on it and then simply copy the address (url) to a post and add the
.... Seems pretty simple, no?

Well since we are here let me give it a try with a picture not coming from photopoint.... Hopefully this will work!!!

If everything worked out like it was supposed to, well, i'll be amazed!!!! In the event it does work, just click on the "edit/delete message" in my post and it will allow you to view how I done this...

Good luck --- To us both!!!!

Matt, I would start here. http://www.photopoint.com/help/getstart.html

It can't be that hard if Gene and I can do it. You will need a program to get your photos into a jpg format, and try to keep the file size down. Once you have your pics on your PhotoPoint site, it's a piece of cake.
Blackdog on the Gurkha Forum was a big help when I first got started, I'm sure he'll be glad to help you as well.
Give it a try, you can do it.

I tried to get this to work last night and was unsuccessful. Let me try again and see if it works, if not can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong. Here is the webpage http://spider.smig.net/users/eaisaacs/Bmms.jpg
And now I will try and post it here.

I guess I got it to work, thanks for the help.

Don't know why, but I can't see the image. It works fine if I just punch in the URL.

Anybody else having that problem? I also took the URL and compared it to what Matt put in his post above. It's identical. Do we have Cyber-Gnomes at work here?

Another related question---I have got it down for the most part, but am having a problem.

I have the picture above posted in another site(e-bay) and for some reason it will sometimes come up on the screen when you open my post, and other times it will not come up. Why is this? Is it becuase I have posted in more than one place?

Another trick is to put up a nested code -
[vrl=http://www.mypage.com/xyz.jpg][jmg]http://www.mypage.com/xyz_small.jpg[/img]
(typos "v" & "j" on purpose, so the forum won't try to execute the code)
with the URL being the location of the big picture, and the IMG being the location of the thumbnail, if you've made a smaller image, to save on download time and bandwidth.

Like this: (click on the "edit" button to see the coding, and don't ask me how I ended up with the thumbnail in the wrong directory)

<A HREF="http://www.chaicutlery.com/chrisreeve/DecoratedSmallSebenza060500e.jpg" TARGET=_blank>
DecoratedSmallSebenza060500e_small.jpg
</A>

Now that you have the coding under control, more or less, remember to ask permission before you post an IMG code to an image on somebody else's web page, using some of the bandwidth they're paying for every time somebody clicks on the thread over here.
