Posting pictures

Attach the picture as normal then:

1. Click on the thumbnail and a new browser window will open - with your fullsize pic and its URL address.
example: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=68118&stc=1&d=1172399032

2. Copy the address and then click on the
insertimage.gif
button.

3. Paste the newly copied address in the area provided.

Could somebody walk me through this step by step. Here is my problem, it starts with my computer skills. Other than entering text, printing out documents and sufing the web, that is all I know about using computers.

1) I bought a digital camera months ago, took pictures of knives and stuff.
2) Somehow when I plugged the camera into the USB port all the pics went into 'My pictures' in Microsoft's XP operating software this thing uses.

So how does one step by step take a photo from My Pictures, and get it into the body of a post here on BF? I don't want to use photobucket, I just want to take them from My Pictures, one at a time to the body of the post. There has got to be a simple way to this that non computer people can understand.

When posting a reply, hit the "Go Advanced" button. Then select the "Manage Attachments" and follow the instructions on there.

I clicked on Browse, selected a photo, then hit upload..... Waited 5 minutes with broadband. Then selected URL, hit the second upload button ....Waited forever again. Nothing. I give for now. Try again latter. I don't know, but I am sure I am not the only one frustrated. Enough now just to walk away from it.

The pictures that come off your camera are likely too large in size and storage space to upload as an attachment. You will have to resize and compress the pictures before uploading. I use Photoshop for my pics, but there are free programs available.

Was just looking at Nordics directions for posting pictures in the body of the text. I followed the directions and ended up with a thumbnail at the bottom as well as the larger picture i wanted to post - all good but did not want the duplicate thumbnail.

I then went back and deleted the thumbnail and then lost the picture in the text.

So what am i doing wrong?

The thumbnail will show up no matter what if you use the attachment system. It's there to show non-registered people that there is a picture in place - one they won't be able to see since they aren't registered. If you don't want the thumbnail to show up, you'll need to host the image offsite and just link to it.

this is the second test

On your photobucket page where this pic came from there are 4 choices at the bottom right of the pic. Where it says "Image Code" (the bottom choice) copy and paste that info to your post...

Gotta love that knife of markksr's :D.

Thanks much for the help. Well i feel a slight bit better about my computer skills.
Best regards, Rick

Bastid - i would certainly have to agree - that is one sweet knife by Joe Allen:)

Rick,

If Photobucket already supplies the tags surrounding the photo URL, you don't need to add them in again by the little image button. That's why you have the extra set on the bottom of your photo--it added them twice.

Simply cut and paste it into the body of your post. Nothing more needed.

Hey thanks a bunch. I have been wondering how this was done for awhile.
Rick

One of the mistakes I was making was pasting the address in and accidently puting the http:// in twice. Make sure it isn't there twice.
