I am no longer able to post in a thread I started (water bottle carrier). How come?

What is the URL of the thread? Is it an Exchange thread? Were you a paid member?

I cleared my cookies. Still unable to post there. But am able to post here. Go figure. Tony

I seem to be having the same problem posting in 'Carl's Lounge' in Traditional. Been trying to post for a couple of hours now, but I keep getting the 'server problems' message or it just times out. Seem to be OK posting elsewhere.

I doubt anyone can tell you just now. We have been having website problems, evidently a series of hacker attacks. Spark has been trying to keep the site running. Some of the administrative work takes longer to get to. Some of the unusual problems will have to wait. Moderators can't help with this.

I'll try again

I think I had a similar odd experience a week ago. Tried a 'Reply with Quote' in the Maint forum, and got the error which I described in my other post below (posted in this forum with no issues, oddly, in the same time frame). The attempted post in Maint wouldn't take at all, until I eventually omitted the quoted portion from my reply, after which it finally posted. Still have no idea what caused it, and that particular problem seems to have been a one-time occurrance for me.

Anybody noticing a severe slow-down in the last 20 minutes or so? Attempting to post a reply in the Maintenance, Tinkering & Embellishment forum, and there's absolutely no movement. Can't get to the Advanced Editor, nor am I able to post a quick reply (keeps telling me, 'This webpage is not available').

And yet, posting here in this thread isn't presenting any problems.

To update, the whole thing seems to have been somehow related to using 'Reply With Quote', which seemed to hang everything up. I omitted the quoted portion from my reply, and all-of-a-sudden, it seems to work. I have no idea...; if this seems completely unrelated to the site outage issues, please disregard.

It seems to me, so many issues seem to arise when using the editor. This is usually when I notice the stalls/hangups, after which the whole site (usually) becomes inaccessible for a while. Even before the recent troubles with hacker attacks on the site, posting replies had been somewhat an act of faith, either going very slowly, or sometimes re-directing to the Advanced Editor after hitting 'Post Quick Reply' in the standard editor (sometimes resulting in double posts, if 'posting' or 'saving' from there once again, without realizing my first attempt was actually posted).

I was finally able to make the post. I made a link to another forum rather than to the exact same information on this forum. I don't understand all this techno-garbage (in my 70's) but am happy to have finally succeeded in posting.

Thanks for the update. Don't worry the techno garbage all too often escapes us too, it changes often enough to make it hard to track. Glad the issue is resolved. Pease let us know if anything changes or the problem reappears.
