Seems the old method of posting youtube videos doesn't show the video nor a even a clickable link, what is the new settings that will make a youtube video show up?

Below is how I/we use to post videos

Hah, NOW it shows up, I guess never mind is in order .... but others that I've seen do not appear in other threads for some reason.

You've got 7 years to break in your Stetson than its out for a new one :D

It's easier now, just copy the link to the video directly (without any bbcode tags) and then click the 'video' icon that looks like a film strip that's with the rest of the icons above the text field, then paste the link in the supplied URL box and it'll embed it just fine. [video] tags don't work now, the videos get a [ media ] tag instead.

Thanks appreciate that

That's interesting Ray, I love my Stetson, folks at work have grown use to seeing me wear it, now I look forward to rainy days!!!
I did add a paracord lace to mine for those windy days, since our company relocated near the airport, it is always super windy there and that comes in quite handy!

The last couple of YouTube videos I linked in a post of mine, I didn't even have to use the 'media' icon in the editor to do it. I'd previously overthought the process, in attempting to add the 'media' tags myself around the URL that I'd copied directly into the editor window. As it turned out, I didn't even need to add those tags myself. The videos were posted with the visible 'media' tags I added still showing as text in my post; so I deleted the 'media' tags from my post, to see if it made any difference, and the editor still seemed to recognize and correctly handle the videos without my tagging them as such. Going back to edit mode and looking, the software had automatically re-encoded the URLS to a shortened format and added 'MEDIA=youtube' tags as well. Looks like the software is set up to automatically recognize them, if you simply drag & drop the Youtube URL into the editor.

Strange, on my iphone I just copy the url from the address bar and paste it into here. No extra steps. For some reason it links the video and posts it and not the actual youtube page. I am not complaining.

I'd noticed the same, seeming stray [video] tags in front of successfully posted videos, but hadn't gotten as far as you in attempting to determine Why.

The latter being a recurring theme; I do appreciate your thoroughness. :)
