Could someone give me the how too''s and don't on how to use the stuff? It looks like there are different grades of the stuff from looking at flee bay.
Thanks for the help. Jim

I am not sure what you mean by different grades. I am not saying there are not different grades but I am not aware of that. It is however sold in several forms liquid, powder and such.
It is an oxidizer therefore it can not be air shipped, ground shipment only!

The Do's are Do wear gloves anything you paint the material on is wash and wear, (like your hands)!

The don'ts, are Don't get it on anything you do not want colored by it! Use in a well ventilated area.

It goes on purple and dries brown. Second coats will darken the final color and buffing with a greenie pad or steel wool will lighten it to a lighter color or in the case of antler it will bring out the whiter highlights on the raised areas.

This particular piece of antler was a completely white shed.

I first did the antler with a black stain, then buffed out and a coat PP was put on it and then buffed again. You end with a background of darker the black, then the brown comes in and after the last buffing the white areas pop out! This has final top coat of super glue or CA (same thing). The process is like doing a painting the background is done first!

That is about all that I can tell you but google is a great search tool for more info

Do not mic anything with glycerine based products, like anti freez. Id even be weary of vasaline of any other patrolium jelly due to possable glycerin . Mix with thethe wrong thing and your hard work will go up in flames... litterly. And not easy to put out i might add.

Mix til you have a saturated solution. Put in antler, soak from 20 seconds to 15-20 minutes. All antlers take it differently. Let dry and buff with sisal buff..not cotton or felt. Then buff with soft brass jewelers wheel. Sweeeeeeeeet!
