Potential box cutter?

If I wanted a stubby Delica, I'd just grind mine down. :p Sorry, I love the Delica but this does nothing for me. I understand it could appeal to those wanting a short blade to meet a legal requirement.

While it looks cool and different it is essentially a delica with LESS blade that they will likely want more cash for. I have found there is not much I don't prefer my delica 4 FFG for. Spydercos HT of vg-10 is incredible.

As many Spyderco's that I have, they are only emergency box cutters. I use a box cutter instead. Like this....

I used my Sage I (FFG) to open a couple hundred boxes at work. I only had to cut the reinforced paper packing tape. My supervisor had a utility knife that I could have used, but I knew that I could work get the job done faster and safer with the Sage I. He was paranoid that I would injure my self because several others who had done this in the past had cut themselves with the utility knives.

Anyhow, the S30V held up very well and I didn't cut myself. The worse part was having to clean the adhesive residue off once in a while.

Good points, If its over $80 ill have to pass. I just think its cool looking and am trying to justify it.. I don't buy on looks alone or else I'd be broke.

Phydeaux denatured alcohol is your friend for sticky residue on blades.

I think I might buy this one it will go well with my Kahr CW9.

I just ordered a tan last night from Kahr's site. I am most likely getting a CW45. I would like to check out the CM45, but it doesn't seem like it is coming anytime soon.

I bought my Southard just for boxes at work.

After some shoulder removal this thing glides into cardboard all day.

I've had one on pre-order for a while now. I didn't own a Kahr either, so I went out and bought a CM9 to go with it. I've been wanting a pocket 9 for a while now. This just helped me decide on a brand. :D

Mentioned earlier....

To get tape residue off of your best and sharpest..... lighter fluid is your friend.

MSRP $99.95

for only 2/3 of the blade, bit expensive for a box cutter

I totally agree but.. I use a stanly box cutter which cost $9 and a double 75 pack of good razors runs $15.

I go thru a 75 pack probably every two months.

The box cutter is clunky, no pocket clip and no spyder hole.

:)

at that rate that knife would pay for itself in less than a year, and with a cool pocket clip.

I have never been able to hold onto a dedicated box cutter for more than a few months myself.

Don't take this the wrong way Spyderco forum, it's all in fun, I love my Spydercos.

As per the last several posts... yes, the cost of replacing blades over years is more than the knife. BUT! Think of how many sharpening sessions this is. I love to sharpen but does the OP? Things to think about at least.
