Yup!!! Mike Stewart has been known to be a bit shady when it comes to blade steel.

I haven't brought it up before, but his company has stolen from me. I believe it was the pic below that I have hosted on Flickr as a desktop wallpaper for people to use (personal use) on their computers. He took the image, slapped a pic of a Bark River knife over it, and used it as a print ad for one of the Knife / Blade magazines. I bought the copy of the mag so I could go back and get paid (or trade in blades) for the unlawful use of a copy righted image they used without permission. I guy I knew wanted to borrow the mag and made a big fuss about it saying he would get it back to me after a plane ride. I never got it back, and the mags were out of print by the time the guy told me he didn't have it anymore.

If anyone has an old magazine with the below pic being used, or any of my images being used for adwork, I would appreciate it if you let me know.

I sure will!

I never had a Knife or Blade subscription but it might help if you can give an approximate month and year to help narrow down the field.

EDIT: Ooops. Thanks Ken C. I didn't notice the writing on the suppressor. My bad.

I know SharpByCoop SharpByCoop always has an overlay or his name in a frame around the pic. Maybe Coop can offer some suggestions?

(Sorry Coop but you are the only professional photographer here that I know of)

Also, there is nothing in that pic that shows ownership to my eyes. I'm not trying to be a jerk, just an observation.

Look at the suppressor. The watermark is right on it.

That sucks. Wish I could help, I have always enjoyed your stick-pics!

Doh. I feel like an idiot. Thank you Ken.

Sorry Stickgunner Stickgunner , I'm not too bright.

I often hide the watermark, over the last couple decades followers have told me they enjoy looking for where I place it. However, if I'm just feeling lazy or am processing a bunch of images I'll slap the logo in the corner where its extra visible.

If you search on Tineye, there are about 80 mentions of that picture, starting from 2016, under many different file names, mostly with a different water mark location. Seems popular on sites that sound Russian. Right at the end there was someone on Alibaba using a cropped one to sell silica gel.

(you will have to add your own www)

I wish you the very best of luck. I am not sure how the law would work if they photo-shopped out your water mark before using it and then claimed to be unaware of your right.
