Potential supplier for the our Pirates????

aHRRR , I too cannot attest to their quality . The pommel on the kukuuri is neat looking . It would leave a nice imprint on a certain first mates forehead if he doesn,t stop swilling from the bilge .

Jody Samson is the real deal....makes some crazy stuff...but very nicely made and visually appealing!

If these are built to the quality that others I've seen/heard of...then they could certainly be trusted out in the woods...as well as on zombies. :D

Yep, Jody is a first-rate bladesmith. Considering the quality and artistry of his products, his prices are valid. Not that I will ever be able to buy any of it...

they cost more than my car:(

Nice bent knives. Didn't anyone tell him about the cho and sword of Shiva?;)

Aaargh matey, we're naught but humble pirates here :o

Mr. Samson's work is undeniably exquisite, but for 1200 - 1500 dollars, I could outfit myself with a fine brace of flintlock pistols, a cutlass, a dagger, and a few bottles of rum. :p I can't picture me walking out of the house with a 1200 dollar blade, be too afraid I'd drop the dayumed thing and scratch it. :(

It's easy to forget the great DEAL we recieve from Yangdu.

I could buy a Ruger single shot 375, fix my amplifier, take the family out to dinner, and probably have enough left to buy a new khuk.

Or I could just buy a new amplifier.

LOL :D Who said anything about paying for them? We are pirates after all!

Is this THE Jody Samson... the guy who did all the hand grinding on Benchmade's balisongs back in the day?? I've owned a couple of his bali's and can attest to the quality of his work. In fact, his bali's are pulling in top dollar and are VERY collectible. I've got one at the top of my "must buy when I'm better off" list...

I can't get the link to work (grrr). But my internet has been slow today.

Darn straight; and if we are to be true to our vision, we must pirate the goods away.

but I fear me old Mazda will only hold two cannons and one buccaneer and still have room for plunder.

Go down to U-haul and see what they can fix you up with.

I'm thinking you put the plunder in the back and put another pair of cannon up in the car.

Great stuff, by Crom! Just the thing to rule your Kingdom with. :D

I have to say though that for the beautiful one-of-a-kind custom designs and workmanship that they seem very reasonably priced to me. I'm sure he could get a lot more. Considering you can easily spend half his going rates on regular custom fixed blades with 6" or 7" blades, and they suddenly seem pretty reasonable.

Norm, You are quite correct. There are custom swordsmiths out there who charge considerably more for their goods. If y'all are interested in seeing fantastic custom stuff, look up Kevin Cashen or Vince Evans - amazing stuff. Another custom smith that sells at around the price-point of Jody's work is John Lundemo - very fine work as well.

Queen Ann pistols, flintlock, in kit form from Dixie Gunworks, $225 each, so a "brace" would run $500.

CAS Iberia naval cutlass, not top drawer stuff, but don't tell that to the poor swab that just got hacked by it, fifty nine dollars and thirty eight cents from Blade Matrix.

Paul Chen main gauche parrying dagger, fit fer a fyne genteelman, $70, and also from Blade Matrix.

Having five to six hundred dollars left over for rum and wenches. . . . . . .

PRICELESS

Sarge, uh, er, Thumbcutter ;)

I need to get into crime or something. Those are beautiful, but as Mr. Thumbcutter has said. Be hell if you scratched em.

They're gorgeous, but I'd not want one. While I do understand the idea of tool as art-form, you'd never use one. Ever.

Now, I ripped the rotten deck off my porch yesterday, and a khuk was just the thing for some parts of the work. The friend who was helping me (with an ax) leaned over ...

"Lemme see that ... That's great. How much?"

"Shoot, I'd buy one of those in a heartbeat."

I think we can expect covert visits from him in the next while

Why covert? Tell him to stand in the open, just like us, an honest beggar.

They are reasonable,in the days of old a best-quality sword would be three times as much so you'd do good on his stuff.

And Tom? oh hell yea I'd use it! for that much it better work! I'd do a real hard think on pig hunting with it if I bought one :D
