Hello,

This is James, happy holidays to all of you. I was off the site for many months due to settling in to the new residence.

My wife has been chopping up the store bought whole young chicken (see image below) a couple of times a week using a cleaver she bought at an Asian market. It works ok but has damaged the chopping board with the pounding and is a lot of effort for her.

Are there any good poultry shears out there which can cut through the meat and bones, even if its just as a precursor to using the cleaver.

To add, a recommendation for a great cleaver or appropriate knife to cut this chicken would also be helpful.

Thank you for your time and advice.

Cheerios,

James

One of my customers had >>>>these in a belt pouch / sheath.
I asked him what he had in the sheath and he drew them and unlocked them in one motion and he had two "knife like objects" one in each hand and took up a self defense stance.
I didn't know what exactly to say . . . if anything.

I'm not sure it was this brand but they were cammo. I do recall that one of the blades, and even both (it's been a while now) . . . one of the blades reminded me of a "Canadian Belt Knife".

I know this doesn't help much but I had to say it.
Hahaha
Does anyone else carry poultry shears for SD or did I just meet the master of a brand new school of SD ? :p :) :D :) o_O ?

Are such shears, priced in the sub $50 range strong enough to cut through a young chicken with bones?

Nowadays google has become dubious in many product search results, because of the paid ad placements, paid reviews etc.

My poultry shears are relatively inexpensive, and as the name suggests, they are perfectly capable of cutting through poultry bones. I use them to spatchcock, which involves removing the spine and rib cage while leaving the rest intact. Also for jointing chickens into either quarters or eighths.
