After hours of searching I cannot find anywhere that sells metal powder, I am interested in trying some small scale canister welding when I get a forge going and am looking for supplies beforehand.
Anybody know of a good place to find metal powder?
thanks in advance

I think Kelly Couples supplies it. I don't have his number on hand but i can get it for you if nobdoy here has it.

the last list I have from him has 1084 and 4600E powder both at $3.25 per lb.

one more question I just thought of, do you have to be really careful to keep the container sealed so the powder won't rust? i know that oxygen in the container can prohibit welding, but what about oxidized powder in the mix?
anybody have much experience working with metal powder?
thanks for the input so far

check out giraffebone.com Jerry McClure at Norman, Oklahoma carries it as well as Damasteel - exotic wood- giraffe bone- I thinks he carries both plain carbon and with nickel added

Add on to that, what kind of steel is used in car brake drums and rotors? I have a dozen or so car repair places that I work with and around on a daily basis. I see drums full of shaved rotor powder all day that they say they just throw away or recycle. Would be nice to know if I could forge that stuff into a good blade steel.
