Powderhorn ?

I am still building up my Schrade collection.... slowly but surely. I still love those Uncle Henrys.

Just got a Frontier Powderhorn 4 inch Stockman --- mint condition, very nice.

But I have read conflicting reports about these... were they made by Schrade or Camillus ?

Can anyone settle this ?

By the way, I am not too bothered, since I really like Camillus knives and am building a nice little Stockman collection.

Casares,
Phil addressed this in a thread a while back. Here is the link:

They are great little knives. One of my favorite EDCs is a 4131 (3-1/4" Square Bolster Serpentine stockman) that I picked up for about $6 with a broken clip blade. I re-profiled it into a wharncliffe style blade and use it all the time.

The 4" was called the Premium Stock knife and originally sold for about $10. What color is yours? My favorite handles are the "Bone Stag" handles, though they are just jigged brown Derlin, (not bone nor stag). The lighter colors (Sundown Yellow & Ol' Ivory) tend to get dirty and are tough to clean.

I hope this helps,
Dale

Dale,

thanks very much for your reply.

Mine has black delrin handles, solid and very attractive...

I also like the match strike nail nick, it looks very nice on a stockman, I have a couple of old Buck Creek stockmen that have the same nail nick, and an old 34OT as well.

I guess my addiction to collecting the Stockman pattern is not over yet....

and the same can be said of my love of Schrades... they are just so well made, and honest knives, meant to be used.

I hate the 'pretty' looking knives that are on sale (including some of the Case knives) obviously meant just to be collected and never put to use.
