power hammer plans

That is Krusty, as designed and blueprinted by Daniel Gentile, it is his specific design of Appalachian power hammer.

anyone built one of these? for 600 bucks it sounds pretty awesome,i'd like to hear some pros and cons if anyone has any. (not to hijack yer thread tho, just intriguing as heck, i hate drawing out tangs by hand, hehe)

there are several of these on Youtube you can see them in action.
this plan is a little more refined than most.

One of the mistakes I see made is. on the Youtube versions.

not enough beef in the base/anvil.
the pitman arm could be shorter and stiffer the ecentric needs to be balanced, ( weight added to ofset the arm)

the ecentrics in most machinery with pitman arms are made this way.

I'll say that Krusty works a lot better than the "rusty" style I built, but it's hitting and drawing a lot slower than the tire hammer I'm using. Then again it's a heck of an improvement over a sledge hammer. The thing that I like about the tire hammer and toggle link action is that the faster it runs the harder it hits, the toggles litterly slam the head down. And with a good solid anvil and bolted to concreet it works great.
