Just got started on a PowerKraft axe head. Its a 3 1/2 pound head. Does anyone know much about the history of this company? The steel feels different to me. It looks as though it has a pretty good reputation on the net. I am just curious.

Actually picked up one very similar this Saturday. I thought they were associated with Montgomery Wards Brands. Mine has ridges in the eye - same on yours?. 70-80's maybe - I'm unsure on that.

On my short list to clean, hang, and try out.

It was a Montgomery Wards line of tools. My first ax was a Powr Kraft boys ax. It does not have the phantom bevels, but it does have the ridges in the eye. It has been a great ax for my uses.

I recently picked up both a Kelly and Wards Master Quality (another line of Montgomery Wards tools) and the similarities are hard to miss. I've heard that Kelly was the likely manufacturer of their axes and I would have to agree the chances are good.
