Cutting some multi-strand wire today (picture hanging wire) and had a problem with the Power Plier just mashing the strands of wire but not cutting. The strands are very fine so the leverage just flattened the wire (including the strands) without cutting. There must be just enough tolerance to bend the strands without cutting.

I guess when you make it for heavy duty use, that is its best showing.

The pliers did great removing the packing staples the manufacurer imbedded in the wood frame I was hanging.

A couple of other tools with the same test - multi-strand wire

Para Tool - cuts easily no flattening
Switch plier - flattens does not cut thru
L-Man Pulse - custs easily no flattening

Hi M,

Our pliers are designed to cut as wide a variety of wire as possible, but obviously can't do everything. Thin, multistran wire IS one that gives it a challenge.

BUT, if you feel it is not performing as SOG would intend it (I'm not handling the tool, you are in the best position to know if its performance is subpar), we'd be more than happy to review your tool under warranty. If you are interested in this, HERE'S our warranty page to give instructions for return. If you want to chat this over with my warranty department, call (888) SOG-BEST...ask for Steve, or if I'm in, I'd love to talk with you.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

My overall experience with SOG tools is very positive. Never expected to not complete what I started with my Power Plier today.......

Since I am on a roll. Is there a way to lock the phillips screwdriver in the small Cross Grip? Seems to fold when you apply force during use.

As always, thanks for the response.

"Since you're on a roll...." :) Thanks! ;)

Sorry, but no. That "little" Phillips guy has a mind of his own. It is not designed to do all things. To be brutally honest, I've struggled once or twice with it as well. :)
