When I first went to get a multitool the guy in the store here in Japan took one look at me (6ft & 230lbs) and gently shook his head and took away the gerber I was looking at and handed me the Power Plier. He must have mistaken me for one of the Marines stationed in Yokosuka or Yokohama. He told my wife that that Gerber ones broke too easily and went off into the back and came out with 2 Gerber's with broken Jaws. He said the SOG was drop forged so it was much much tougher than the other makers (escept Leatherman, which I didnt like. They hadnt made the wave then) So I glady paid for it or rather my wife did as it was a Birthday present and I spent lots of time just opening and closeing it ( :) my wife just shakes here head when she see's me with new toys). Anyway at first I was over the moon with it, I sharpened a pair of scissors and I couldnt beleive how well the file worked, full marks there!

But putting pressure on the handles to cut through wire was uncomfortable to say the least. Then I twisted the minus driver undoing a particualry obstinate screw rendering it useless and after that I got fed up with it and threw it in a drawer where it has been ever since. But, looking at it yesterday I started to like it again (especially the funky levers)and want to get some things sorted out so I can use it more often. (Oh yeah, I wasnt mad on the main blade either)

1: Can I get replacement or different blades for it through the post so I can fit them myself?

2: Is there any update to the hand cutting fault of the design like slip on rounded covers or the like?

Ron?

Regards

Bob

Hi Bob,

Replacing blades are no problems. The price is mostly $6.50/each (or $7.95 for a couple).

With compound leverage, there is less need to apply enough pressure to make your hand uncomfortable, so we don't consider this a "fault" with its design. There is nothing we sell that would make it more comfortable.

Our PowerLock does have comfort handle covers to assist in making this tool more comfortable to handle.

Bob,
One of the reasons I got the Powerlock was for the handle covers. It has made it very comfortable to use.
The gold TiNi was for looks:cool:

It also makes it harder for people to "borrow" my multi-tool.... it's distinctive!

Yep Bobby thats just what I was thinking about. I wonder if I could just clip them on instead of having then fixed permamently. Before I would just put the sleeve of my shirt over the handle but I figured in the 21st Century there might be a better way :D

These for the PowerLock are just clipped on. Unfortunately, for serveral reason, they cannot be retrofitted onto other tools. Sorry!
