I am new to blade smithing, lots to learn and appreciate all the advice and tips given on this site. I see where sometimes the comments can be quite biting and harsh, most comments are given with patience and excellent suggestions. I am scheduled to attend a power hammer build class next spring. I was wondering if anyone offers such a class for a power press?

I’m jealous that you are getting a power hammer. Which class?

You'll probably get better/more responses if you post this kind of question in the Knifemakers Discussion section.

Next July at the Virginia Institute. It’s a Clay Spenser tire hammer. The main instructor is Allan Kress. Big expense for me but need the extra arm strength that comes with a power hammer.

Welcome to Shop Talk. Fill out your profile so we know where you live and a bit about you besides your age.

I don't know of press class.
I will suggest you look at the Coal Iron press. It is what many are using today. It rolls about the shop and only requires 120VAC. For the money it is almost as cheap as building one unless you already have a large machine shop and serous welding skills.
