Powerballs

Yeah, I was into those seriously for few years. The problem is they break down too soon if you are really excercising withthose :( I kept one at worki one at home and would do at least 3-4 sessions a day. None lasted for more than 3-4 months. Something happens with the mechanical parts inside, which are receiving significant overloads.
I mean, as you get better you can keep the speed (translates into higher tension in your wrist) higher and for longer periods of time.
I donno how later models are doing, but either way it was fun :)

Lots of names for the same thing -
I know it as Girotwister. "Powerballs" is what I use in my dishwasher

This thing is my favourite suspect why I ended up with a "tennis elbow" last year (maybe I did exercise a bit too much). Maybe it is "innocent and I got the "tennis elbow" from cutting too many rings for the pupils` mailshirt of last years school project - do not know ...

I had a cousin who had one of those about a thousand years ago. I was too young to spin the thing. In fact I think I got carpet lint into the mechanism :) In those days I probably would have put it back on the desk and try to look innocent. :D

One of our fine forumites mentioned the pipe and barbell plate for wrist/forearm development. It seems like a more inexpensive alternative. Since I'm cheap...

How's that Captains of Crush passaround goin'?
