Powerful flashlight

I am looking to get a powerful flashlight, something which can blind the opponent for a while and do so with game also at night while hunting. My budget is limited to $50 tops, give or take $10 more maybe. Can you guys suggest something rugged and which takes AA batteries cuz that is what is freely available everywhere.

Mini mag lite and terralux tle-5ex upgrade. Surefire 6px pro takes cr123 but its a good light. They make a composite version of that light that is a bit cheaper.

Streamlight Pro Tac 2 AA

You can get it for ~$35, has enough output for your needs, and Streamlight makes good rugged lights imo.

Fenix E21 is what I just picked up.

There is also the E25 but it has a smal button on the side, which would be harder to use with gloves while hunting, so I chose the E21.

My requirements were the same as yours, and for $35 this was the best thing going IMHO.

I looked at the Streamlight as well, but the Fenix was brighter I believe.

I have 3 Fenix lights now, and for the money they can't be beat IMHO.

For EDC I use an E11 which is amazing for a small single AA light. The E21 just provides more power and throw for out in the woods for me. The E11 is more of a flood light for short distances.

The fenix E40 might be a good option too. 4xAA so you get a better runtime than the E21, and more output. More spendy would be the LD41 which turbos to 520 lumens (so they say) and again, 4xAA. I have no experience with the bigger lights, but I have an E21, which is a great light, and an E05 which has become my EDC/work light. In my opinion, fenix lights are good value for the dollar.

I agree the E40 is a hell of a bargain but not what the OP is looking for by the sounds of it. Won't fit in the pocket too well. ;)

I also have an E05 and for a keychain light it is amazing.

Fenix Rocks! ;)

Thanks gents, I already have a Fenix LD20 but I am not impressed with its output which is same as the E21. Something slimmer and with 250+ lumens is what should work.

I don't know you are being realistic then my friend.

That kind of output in a 2x's AA battery setup is really not realistic, at least not with any battery life.

2AA 250 lumens and under $50?

Closest I can find is 4Seven Quark Tactical QT2A, goes for around 55 and puts out 205 lumens.

There is a QT2A-x that puts over 250, but i can't find it in stock.

It's not impossible, but options in your pricerange are limited. Pop by lighthound and check out the eagletac d25a2 and Lighthound's house brand 2xAA XML tactical light. These smaller lights tend to be more flood than throw, there's an eagletac p100a2 that has fair throw for its size but it's less than 250 lumens. The stated ratings are probably slightly optimistic for the two XML lights with alkalines but should be over 250 lumens without a problem.

(at this pricerange and output don't expect first class build quality, there's a higher than average lemon to lemonade ratio there.)

If you want to spend a little more ~$65, Streamlight Pro Tac HL, runs on 2 CR123s, and has a max output of 600 lumens, rather brights! I know you wanted AA, but CR123 are rather easy to get, last longer, and aren't as risky to corrosion.
