PPT S90V/CF Sprint has landed

I wish the pocket clip was a bit more; well more. For me it works good IWB but if I pocket it then it's too flexy.

At 4.25" closed , it's a little small for my taste. But I like the CF and the shape of the knife very much.

This is on my list of potential buys for 2018. Now it's decision time. The one factor that gives me pause is the size and shape of the handle. I have larger hands.

Perhaps someone can post comparison pictures when they get their PPT. I've come across a few comparison pictures on the internet, but they aren't that good.

Same here. I'm thinking it might be a little small for me. But I still may just suck it up and pull the trigger.

The pic on Instagram really shows off how nice the machining on these scales are. Spyderco did an amazing job with the carbon fiber.

What do you want to compare it to? I have one of the last sprints and a dozen or so other common Spydies.

Well that went quick. GPK already sold out.

I was wondering what happened myself. I went over to GP to check it out and was surprised to see they were out of stock already.

I wouldn't expect the PPT to be a quick seller(like the Lum Tanto), maybe I was way off on that.

I was able to snag one from Rivers Edge. This one wasn’t on my radar at all, but I love it.

I could see some guys getting turned off by the weight, it feels a little hefty, but I’m not a weight weenie.

I have the previous (but not original) edition and really like it. It is a little on the heavy side for a spyderco, but great ergos and cutting blade (thin). This one is CF and S90V, one of my favorite combos, so I had it on my buy list. Wish it was not so close to the Lum tanto, but I managed to find one today at NGK. They will probably be appearing in small bursts.

Anyone know why this doesn’t get the love the other Spydies get? As soon as I saw it, I had to get one.

Not much about this on here or Spyderco forum.

I think it doesn’t get much love cause it’s kind of and oddball for Spyderco. It’s a beefy overbuilt handle with tons of texture and a very deep carry clip. You can’t really spydie flick it out, and the “hard use” guys will scoff at it because it’s ground pretty thin.

It’s also very heavy for the size, and it’s not a lot of blade for what you carry. I used to have one, I sold one a while back and let me tell you, it’s a great knife.

It doesn’t seem like it should be since it has so many odd things about it, but it is phenomenal, definitely one I would want back.

Oh, and for those worried about the handle size, I found it very comfortable and I have medium-large hands. If you have trouble holding a pm2 without choking up, then it’d probably be too small, but otherwise I think it’d be pretty good.

I wish I had the cash for one of these.

Idk, Perrin is an absolute master designer of knives imho. Sacha Thiel puts out some great stuff as well but Perrin is definitely the name in PPT (perrin, someone else I forget, thiel) that makes me want this knife. I would have got it if I had funds.

Perrins knives are all pretty much fighting knives though. So maybe that is why it doesn’t meet the needs of most members.
