Do HOGs have any idea about practical blade thickness of Busse? Well, what should be a thickness of smaller Busse and the chopper ones? I have found, so far, FBM is too thick to handle. And I love .220" thickness of ASH1.

What your guys think?

Thickness is a personal thing. For me the perfect small knife is .17 flat grind, and for a chopper .27.
I find that .17 is thin enough and still gives a strong tip, and I find that .27 is plenty thick for a chopper without adding to much weight.

The 3/16" Terror Monkey SH feels so light and quick in the hand compared to thicker versions I can imagine what a special military unit would need it for. Skinny ASH-1 feels great too but when something really needs to be whacked that extra mass in motion makes a big difference. My SH-E has been used for wooden peg and stake driving in the field for years and I'm sure that a thinner blade would have left much to be desired in those tasks.

i like the cgash-1 thicker is better it does all multi task jobs chops slice use to pound tent stakes holds edge longer because of thickness u could dig a hole to hide in if u had to . lots more steel to sharpen wont were down as fast just my opinion.

I agree completely. I had to get rid of my Fatty GW because it was too thick for me to see any practicality in it. Every time I tried using it I felt as though I was splitting whatever I was working on, not cutting it.

My FFBM is just fine though. I wouldn't even mind her a little thicker.

.25 for a good chopper. that's plenty thick, and plenty tough with a saber grind. 3/16 or around there for a medium blade, and really thin for a smaller

.200" is about the upper limit for me, for small blades like the GW. For large choppers, sky's the limit. The .310" of the FFBMs feels good and practical to me.

Everyone has their own version of practical and will find ways to justify it. There is really no right or wrong. The only thing that matters is that it works for you.

Try out different ones and just pick the ones that work best for you.
