practical portable strop?

i have this nice thick leather belt that i wear everywhere, with every pair of pants that i own (unless its VERY dressed up, at which point the pretty belt comes out). my question is this;
would it be practical to rub compound into the belt (you rub it into the soft side and not the outside right?) so that i could always have a strop with me? i am most worried about the compound coming off on my pants after wearing it all day and adjusting it etc. i am new to stropping, and have yet to experience stropping compound firsthand, so please forgive my ignorance.

or would it be cleaner and more effective to get a dedicated strop and keep it in a backpack etc?

I'm trying to learn how to strop but I've done it a little and I'm pretty sure of this much: the stropping compund will come off on your pants...on the waist under the belt loops. BUT, usually that's the rough side of the leather belt, unless both sides are smooth. You'll want to use the smooth side of the belt, which generally faces out.

They have many sizes you may chose from.

Thanks, Vassili.

I would not recommend putting compound onto ur belt and wearing it. It will rub off onto your clothing and just be a huge mess. If anything, for the infeild quick strop, the "rough" side of the belt (inside) is already enough to put your blade back to "shaving sharp" although, it isnt as good as you can get it with compound. Once you are done with the inside, you can finish it off with the outside of the belt, the smooth side. Just buy a dedicated strop for the inhouse use.

BTW, I have used my leather belt when my blade has lost its shaving ablity, and a few strokes on the leather belt it went back to shaving, but not as well as when I touch it up on the charged strop at home.

thanks guys for the advise and for that link.

i was hoping that it would work, but oh well.
