Hi. I'm brand new to this forum. Not brand new to twirling, though. I used to think I was pretty good until I visited Clay's site and watched his freestyle videos. WOW!! I am not worthy!! Anyway, I have a question to ask of you guys (and gals). Do you know where I can buy a "practice" balisong. I am a truck driver and therefore frequent many states. I am looking for a balisong style knife with a fake blade (therefore maybe not illegal in the states I drive in). By fake, I mean that both sides are dull with no cutting surface or point at the end. Then I could practice without fear of prosecution and/or confiscation. Any information that anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance and I look forward learning a lot more from everyone here.

Happy Twirling,
DriveMaster

You can now buy what is called the BM-40T,which is a trainer balisong. It has the same exact titanium handles as the BM-42,with a little difference in the finish on the handles. It has a dull blade with no pointy tip ,and it has a bunch of holes in it to lower the weight of the blade plus it makes it distinguishable from a "live" blade. It's a very nice looking trainer, and I plan to buy one for myself in the near future.
As far as where to buy one,i'm sure there's a few places that sell them, the one place I can think of that would probably have them is www.1sks.com,and they'll price match if you can find a place that sells them for cheaper.
Good luck and happy flippin'...peace

Hey, your best bet is the new Benchmade 40t. It's been getting good reviews (you can read some of the recent threads here on it) - you might have some difficulty finding it immediately as it just came out, but soon it should be pretty widely available.

Otherwise you can look at knifezilla.com at their jaguar style trainers. Cheaper, but a lot .. you know .. cheaper. Probably break on you after not so long.

Good luck!

Good advise in the prior posts --- the BM 40T should do well for you. Welcome to THE Bali site -- I'm rather new here, too. Good folks who are willing to help and share their knowlege !!!

There is one thing to really consider. As pricey as the BM 40T is, and it may be in limited numbers right now, it is the best trainer out there that does not resemble a real knife, nor is it capable of being converted into a real knife without a lot of effort. I&I used to put out a similar one, but last time I checked their website, it's no longer offered. You can read about it here:

There are three different kinds of trainers that i can think of. They include the BM trainor, Jaguar, PC. The last two kind be found at this site knifezilla www.knifezilla.com. The Jag comes in 2 different types classic and slotted. Check them out. I hope this helps.

Thanks a lot, everyone. I just went to the BenchMade site and purchased the BM-40T. It's on it's way. I appreciate the help. I'll let everyone know how I like it. I can't wait. :D

Thanks again,
