So I got curious about balisongs, and ordered a BM 42, and it's a beautiful, beautiful knife and I can't stop flipping it around. How addicted am I? I took it into the bathroom with me today so that I could get my fix without distressing my co-workers. I've been reading balisongxtreme.com and practicing rockers and rolls with every item on my desk all day long. That's how addicted I am...
...then I read here that you shouldn't practice with a 42, and should use a practice balisong instead. I immediately felt guilty about playing with my new knife. I began to have horrible visions of it falling into pieces at my feet from being played with too much.
My question is: should I stop using my 42, put it into a drawer, and quietly go into withdrawal, or am I being overly paranoid about it now? The thing is, I hate having knives I can't use. I'm not practicing aerials or anything that would cause me to drop the knife on a regular basis, just normal openings, closings, etc., etc.. Does anyone else ONLY have a 42, and has it shown damage from being a favorite plaything? Or is it more of a "you should use a Stradivarius only when you're already a maestro" kind of issue?
Okay, I guess technically that's more than one question.
Thanks.
